London Marathon 2013 The Mall
The London Marathon was first run on 29 March 1981 and has been held in the Spring of every year since.
This year one of our team, John Housden, was privileged to be a marshal at the event. John was situated about half way along the race, 14 miles into the race at Narrow Street watching as the 36,000 runners passed after they had set off from the starting line in Blackheath.
An amazing 700,000 spectators lined the streets in support of the runners.

Sarah Beeny’s inspirational series Double Your House for Half the Money features the Frankilin family in this weeks episode (channel 4), who decide to turn their current home into a family friendly haven. i-sells.co.uk were contacted to supply the system 150 rectangular flat channel ducting which was used for the kitchen extraction unit.
If you get a chance to have a look at this series, it has some really good ideas for those of us who cannot afford to move in these current times but need ideas for facelifting, extending or converting our current home.
Paralympic torchbearer Brian Sells received a warm welcome by the i-sells team when he made a special visit to come and show us the torch he carried as part of the Paralympic Relay Team. Brian was participating as part of a team of five on behalf of St Christophers Hospice, Sydenham, which had been chosen by the Olympic Committee LOCOG. The 24 hour relay saw the Paralympic Flame carried by a total of 580 torchbearers, working in teams of five, through Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire before ending up in London. Brian carried the torch in Aylesbury near Stoke Mandeville, the birthplace of the Paralympic Games.

Alice in Wonderland
Don Jones Design (live events, presentations and graphics company) www.donjonesdesign.com called upon i-sells.co.uk to supply 6 metres of polyester reinforced pvc hose.
This was used to make the Jabberwocky for the live production in June of Alice in Wonderland, performed by Plaxtol Players, an enthusiastic amatuer dramatic society www.plaxtolplayers.co.uk
Don Jones said “The ducting works extremely well as it allows the monster to expand … then contract once it is slain by Alice”. See pictures of the finished Jabberwocky below.

AWS III Loch Ness
AWS Ocean Energy, one of Scotlands pioneering wave energy companies create smart wave power solutions used in the pursuit of practical, affordable energy.
Their AWS-III machine is a multi-cell array of flexible membrane absorbers which convert wave power to pneumatic power through compression of air within each cell. The cells are interconnected, thus allowing interchange of air between cells in anti-phase. Turbine-generator sets are provided to convert the pneumatic power to electricity.
Stanley Schloss in the i-sells technical department said “If you look closely enough at the picture, you may see some of our i-sells ducting components that have been used on this great device, which has been installed in Loch Ness”.
The Last Days on Mars
Liev Schreiber, Sally Hawkins and Romola Garai are to star in a sci-fi film called The Last Days On Mars. It’s being directed by Ruairi Robinson on locations in the UK and Jordan (and sets at Elstree studios) from mid-July. It’s about a group of astronauts lost on a space station.
I-sells.co.uk were called on to supply galvanised spiral ducting and suspension rings for the set, which Stanley arranged to be delivered directly to the studios.
The plot is described as follows: “As their last day on Mars draws to a close, the astronaut crew is on the verge of a major breakthrough – collected rock specimens reveal microscopic evidence of life. Meanwhile, communication is underway with AURORA, the approaching spacecraft that will relieve the crew of their operations. In their last hours on the planet, two astronauts go back to SITE 9, a cavernous valley on the surface of Mars, to collect further evidence of their discovery. But a routine excavation turns deadly when one of them falls to his death and his body taken host and re-animated by the very life form they sought to discover.”
Alcove Entertainment are currently in pre-production for The Double, a comedy co-written and directed by BAFTA-award nominated Richard Ayoade and co-developed and co-financed by Film 4.
Stanley, in the i-sells sales department was recently contacted and asked to supply some 450mm galvanised spiral duct, which is to be used on the set. The Double is set to shoot in the UK in spring/summer this year.
Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland) and Mia Wasikowska (Jane Eyre, The Kids Are All Right) will star in a New comedy.
