I'm installing a chimney for my log burner and I am looking at using galvanised spiral duct. How air and exhaust tight are the joints. In fact how would you recommend I join it as I need 8 meters long with 2 off 45 degree elbows to correct some misalignment. Heat should not be an issue as I have a copper coil on the outside surface of the first 2 meters to recover the chimney heat. Exit temperature should be less than 150 centigrade. I also need a 150mm flue but that's from a wood AGA with back boiler so will also be low exhaust temp. Thanks Peter
Hello Peter
Thank you for your question.
The spiral ducting is not suitable for your application.
We do a stainless steel flue system which you can find on our web site under stainless steel flue. The flue requires locking bars and the bends are also on our site.
If you need any further assistance please give me a call on 0208 463 9683
Hi, Please could you let me know how thick the ducting is? Thank you
Hello Claire,
Our 200mm spiral ducting is 0.5mm thick.
A table showing the different thicknesses of our various spiral duct diameters can be viewed here
Kind regards,
Michael
Can I use the 200mm galvanised steel ducting under ground for use with a kitchen down-draft extractor. It is going to be run under the concrete base of my extension to the wall where it will bend up and out to the external motor. The manual says I ideally need to use the 200mm or it will make the extractor more noisy.
Hello Del
Thank you for your question.
Galvanised ducting is not suitable for concrete unless it is 1.5-2mm thick
The ducting that we supply is 0.5mm and would have to be encased in a timber frame before concrete can be poured on top.
I need 200mm fixed ducting to link a house ventilation blower unit to its output vent. 2.2metres straight run. Can this 3m product easily be cut to length without damaging it?

Hello Matthew
Is the inner diameter of the ducting 200mm or is the 200mm the outer diameter?
