#1joining 2 pieces togetherHI - I'm installing a cooker hood and intend to use this product to vent externally. I need around 4 meters of it so will have to join 2 pieces together. The pipework will be visible in the room so I hope to have as neat a join as possible. How should this be joined - with male/female connector and clip..... or otherwise? Thanks!
Question by VR, 16-09-2015Hello,
My suggestion would be to use a 'safe' male connector (GALNPU-150) - This will fit inside the semi-rigid hose and will form a tight seal without the need for any clips, tape, or any other effort on your part - and the connector will be almost invisible as the hoses will go over each end. The semi-rigid can be cut to the appropriate size and different lengths can be joined together using the connector.
With kind regards,
MichaelReplied by i-sells, 16-09-2015#2how to join to rigid plastic 150mmHi I need to duct out a wall mounted cooker hood with 150mm ducting which will run 3m through a pre-existing box which has a steel in it which is fixed into the outside wall. Because of access issues and the fact that the run won't be dead straight, would it be possible to fit rigid plastic from the outside wall and then join it to this semi rigid aluminium on the inside and then join semi rigid onto top of cooker hood, or onto 90 degree rigid plastic bend to get to cooker hood? What would I need to order to do this? Thanks
Question by asha lodh, 12-01-2018Hi Asha
If we understand correctly it appears you are trying to connect existing 150mm duct to new semi rigid duct, and add a 90 degree bend in which case you would need a connector (QS284) and hose clips (QS396). If connecting semi rigid to the hood spigot it should fit over the top, if connecting the 90 degree bend to the hood you would need to create a collar from rigid plastic duct (QS382)Replied by i-sells, 12-01-2018#3Query about aluminium semi rigid hoseWould it compress (squash without damage) to squeeze through a 100 ml gap in the roof truss
Question by Gwyn Rees, 03-06-2018Hello Gwyn
Thank you for your question. This item does come in 100mm the product code for this item is QS21. I would not squash this item as it may restrict your airflow. If I can help any further please do not hesitate to contact meKind RegardsAnitaReplied by i-sells, 04-06-2018#4External DiameterQ1-What is the external diameter? I have a 152mm Diamond Core Drill bit, so need the hose to fit a hole that size. Q2-I need the hose to vent from a kitchen extractor fan out thru the kitchen wall. Can this hose be bent into a right angle, and will it keep that shape with use?
Question by Mark Bennett, 20-07-2018Hello Mark
Thank you for your question. The diameter is 150mm and the core drill hole you have is correct (152mm). The semi rigid pipe can be made into a bend and will keep it's shape. If I can help any further please do not hesitate to contact meKind RegardsAnitaReplied by i-sells, 20-07-2018#5adviceI want to replace the existing polythene 150mm ducting from my cooker hood. It goes through the ceiling, the eaves in the attic and connects to 100mm plastic pipe that connects to a chimney vent. 3m hose will suffice. What else do I need? Thanks
Question by Edward Goodwin, 21-08-2018Hello Edward
Thank you for your question. For your application you would require the below items. If I can help any further please do not hesitate to contact meDucting Pipe: QS25150-100 Reducer: QS4256150 Connector: QS284Worm Clip: QS1377 x3Kind RegardsAnitaReplied by i-sells, 22-08-2018#6How much bending will it take?Hi, my installation is in a difficult, almost inaccessible, part of the roof. To link the roof inlet to my cooker hood, I figure I will have to use "trial and error" to get the final run of the duct. Is it O.K. to fully extend it (from 0.8m to 3m, then bend it into shape and re-compress? In essence, my question is "how many times can I bend it without splitting the aluminium"? Thanks Roger Clark
Question by roger clark, 22-10-2020Hi Roger. When using a Flexible duct for ventilation, it is always good practice to keep it as tort asThe answer to your last question is unknown, but bending it several times is likely to weaken the structure of the material.
Replied by i-sells, 23-10-2020#7Internal DiameterWhat is the internal diameter? Does it change as the hose is extended?
Question by Mat Ridout, 15-12-2020Hello Mat
Thank you for your question. With the pipe compressed the diameter is 154mm when extended the diameter is 151mm so will go through a 152mm core drill holeKind RegardsAnitaReplied by i-sells, 15-12-2020 -
