Really good flap. I learned a trick, if you trim of that ridge off around the circumference it can be installed retroactively with a nice tight fit. -

Very useful item to allow shutting off airflow when fireplace not in use. Easy to add a couple of pullstrings by making holes in the damper with a bradawl.

#1Can the damper be used verticallyHi, I have installed a 3m run of 125mm round ducting for a cooker hood. This has been terminated with a cowl and damper, but the wind runs across the damper making it open quite often, letting in draughts and street noise. Can this connector/ damper be used and will it work in the vertical position close to the extract unit where it can be accessed for cleaning purposes?
Question by Garry, 27-06-2016Hello Garry
Thank you for your question. Yes this damper can be fitted in an vertical position.
Kind Regards
Anita
Replied by i-sells, 27-06-2016#2damper for air supplyCan this damper be reversed and used to prevent ingress of air until an adjacent kitchen extractor is turned on and then allowing air supply?
Question by terry, 16-04-2017Hello Terry
This is a gravity damper that is designed to be installed in an exhaust duct and remain closed until such time that it is opened by passing extract air from a kitchen or bathroom fan, as soon as air stops passing over the spigot it just falls back into place, please bear in mind it is a one way only valve.Replied by i-sells, 18-04-2017#3125mm round connector with dampnerHi, I bought this to fit vertically in pipework above my kitchen extractor fan. The purpose to blow open when the fan is on and then as I've read the flap then falls closed by gravity once the fan stops to stop any back smells coming through if you are connected to another system which I am. This vertical pipe runs into a horizontal tee piece. One end going to the outside and the other is an extractor in another room. My concern is that the flap doesn't seen to close with gravity. Even if I hold it in my hand and push the flap up it wont fall back into place. My worry is its not going to do the job I bought it for. Let me know what you think please
Question by Gordon, 21-09-2017Hello Gordon
This one is not really designed to be installed in a vertical duct as when the spigot is opened it becomes balanced and there is no weight to make it fall back into place. For your requirements we would suggest the Manrose 1231 which has a hairspring close mechanism, this can be found by entering QS18115 in the quick search bar.Replied by i-sells, 22-09-2017#4DUCVKC353does it matter which way round the damper goes? If yes, then which way should it go?
Question by Veer aswami, 16-03-2022Hello Veer
Thank you for your question. This item needs to be installed horizontally within the duct run so that the damper is in the closed position and only opens when the fan is operating.Kind RegardsAnitaReplied by i-sells, 17-03-2022 -
