Nuaire Drimaster Eco Hall Controlled - Condensation Solving Loft Unit

    Nuaire Drimaster Hung Loft Units

The DRI-ECO-HC enhances Nuaire';s PIV technology with the added benefit of having the system controls located in the contemporary ceiling diffuser. This unique feature bestows the homeowner with complete control of the unit, without having to enter the loft space.

Not only can settings be altered with the push of a button on the contemporary diffuser, but there is also a 7 segment display which notifies the user of the need for filter change and what setting the Drimaster is running on.

The DRIMASTER-ECO range provides whole home ventilation using the Positive Input Ventilation principle, which introduces fresh filtered air into the dwelling at a continuous rate, encouraging movement of air from inside to outside.

A large range of models are available - Please see our table below. Please note, it is not possible to retro-fit a heater to other Drimaster Eco models.

Hi, this is an excellent product and well worth the money the fitting is easy and took less than an hour. Okay the house was suffering from mould and condensation and although we had already had surveys for damp and condensation (they wanted over £1000 to fix the problem) we opted to buy and install NUADRI-ECO-HC and used a qualified electrician to fit it. Since we’ve had it fitted the mould has gone and the condensation is no more . The air feels fresher you hear no noise from the unit you do get a slight draught only slightly noticeable it’s 5 Stars from us Great service and delivery from i-sells.co.uk

Moved into our bungalow in 1989 and found we got terrible condensation. After a couple of years trying various solutions without much success we heard about Nuaire and had one of these earlier models installed. A basic model with just 2 settings but for 25+ years the house virtually condensation free (only if I forgot to go into loft and put it on higher setting for winter) After all these trouble free years the fan started making noises and I switched it off.The condensation returned! Got a quote from Envirovent for installation of a similar unit for £1300! Fortunately then found this site and product. Just fitted it and so easy, especially as it just replaced the existing unit. Lighter than the earlier model and now with 5 settings that can be easily reached on the difusser on the hallway ceiling. Her'shoping for another trouble free 25 years!

    Running

Once the Drimaster is installed does have to stay on 24/7 or only in the months when condensation is most common.

    Question by Hakan Hakki, 08-11-2016

    Hello,

This is purely a matter for choice and depends how much condensation you suffer from. I have been told by some people that they use it in the winter for condensation control but in the summer for the equivalent of air conditioning particularly if very hot and they want the security of closed windows.

There would be no problem using it daily for a few hours to air the property, the benefit of this unit though is that you have access to six speed settings from the diffuser and could just change the speed setting according to what you wanted from it.
    Kind Regards
    Ian

    Fitting air dams

My two storey, 4 bed semi, has a landing ceiling just over 3metres long but only 66 cm wide. Can I simply fit in the centre of the roof and dam the two sides closest to the wall so the unit vents "longways" in both directions?

    Question by James Sykes, 23-11-2016

    Hello James

The short answer to your question is yes, providing you are the recommended distance away from any smoke alarm (1.5m), the long question is when you say two storey do you mean ground floor, first floor and second floor (ground floor is sometimes referred to as a storey).

If you are installing in a loft over the stairwell of a second storey floor you will need to choose between the DriMaster 3S (QS 18854)  or DriMaster 3S Eco (QS45549) as these are supplied with an Intumescent fireblock to comply with regulations.

    Sizes of drimaster

Hi just enquiring about the sizes my loft hatch is small 30cm by 54 cm do you do a drimaster that will fit through my loft hatch I live in a 3bedroom house thank you

Question by Miss Elaine Hallam, 11-12-2016

    Hello Elaine

My initial response was to check the dimensions of the Drimaster, this can be done by clicking on the product image which expands the page, then below the main image there is a sequence of other pictures one of which is the dimensions which appear to be ok for your hatch.
However, my next thought was, how will an installer get access to fit it in your loft?

Which Nuaire Drillmaster is best for me

Hi We suffer from quite bad condensation and I've been told these are the ones to go for. We have a 2 bed flat on the top floor (2nd floor) of a 1960 purpose build. Do you recommend which would be best? We have a large loft which would be able to accommodate a loft installed model. Thanks, Ian

    Question by Ian, 06-01-2017

    Hi Ian

Because you have a flat (ie no high ceiling stairwell) we would probably recommend the heat version and that its input was a hallway off of which the doors to other rooms are located, the pressure should then infiltrate throughout the dwelling, please ensure the loft is well ventilated and there are no open water tanks as can sometimes be the case in 1960's properties.

    Health

Hi would this help with asthma? My 4 year old little girl particularly struggled st night with coughing. This has been recommended. Thanks

    Question by Katy fox, 10-01-2017

    Hi Katy

Very difficult question and the Asthma people get very touchy when making claims over health benefits of ventilation systems. However, this is about to change as the Health service concerns have raised awareness that Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is probably a key factor that determines whether a person will suffer from chest or breathing difficulties.
Air quality in the the home is subject a vast range of pollutants including:-
Volatile organic compounds, found inpaints, lacquers and paint strippers
    Household cleaning supplies
    Varnishes and waxes
Pesticides (eg fly spray and mothrepellants)
    Building preservation materials
    Soft furnishings (flame retardantchemicals)
    Computers, printers etc (CFC's)
    Air fresheners, and dry-cleaned clothing.
    Cigarette smoke
    Rotting vegetable matter
Household dust (dirt and deadskin cells)
    Animals and animal dander
    Radon gas etc. etc. etc.........
Quite a toxic cloud and this is not to mention high internal humidity, condensation and mouldspores or dust mite activity thathas been identified to be one of the biggest contributors to the increase in asthma.
    So the answer is:-
Anything that improves IAQ through frequent air changes and dilution of the toxins listed above must be of benefit to the occupants, particularly those with breathing difficulties!
    I hope this helps.

Nuaire Drimaster Eco Hall Control Diffuser Positive Input Ventilation Unit

our loft is insulated with spray foam, will this unit still work, also is it suitable for a 3 bed semi? How much does it cost to run?

    Question by Sheila Haynes, 26-01-2017

    Hello Sheila

This depends on who carried out the insulation work as I have heard of companies that declare that loft ventilation is not necessary after installation (they are wrong) and some that declare ventilation is still essential (they are correct).
The system requires adequate loft ventilation to work so if tile vents, ridge tiles, eaves or soffits have been sealed off new methods of ventilation will have to be provided.
The unit is provided with 6 programmable speeds with the lowest suitable for a one bedroom bungalow and six for a five bedroom house. We have been told by the manufacturer that running costs should average 36.00 per year which includes intermittent use of the heater.

    NUADRI-ECO-HC

It looks like tile vents, ridge tiles, eaves, soffits have been sealed off, the work was done by warm and dry homes Ltd, by previous owner. There is a velux window, so could you suggest a unit that would be fine to use. Thankyou

    Question by Sheila Haynes, 26-01-2017

    Hi Sheila
The Velux would have to permanently open to compensate for the lack of ventilation so I don't think that is an option. For the Drimaster Eco to work some means of passive ventilation would need to be provided, or existing would need to be opened up.
An alternative would  be a heat recovery system that would extract and supply to all of the upstairs rooms with balanced airflows, and this would require two dedicated input/extract points, however, this is a much more expensive system.
A further possibility may be to install an input system in the landing taking air from outside and supplying the stairwell, particularly if this could be concealed in a cupboard? When the expense or labour of alternative systems is addressed I think an inspection to look at opening up some loft ventilation would be the path of least resistance.

    closing bedroom doors

Hi, will there be any impact if doors are closed. We normally keep bedroom doors closed to keep cats out but it's the bedrooms where we really need the fresh air. I assume air will flow through gaps as internal doors are not a tight seal but wanted to know if there would be significant impact on the amount of air.

    Question by Andy Joy, 06-02-2017

    Hello Andy

You are correct internal doors are not airtight and some air movement will pass around the doors particularly if there is some form of airbrick or window trickle vent in the room. Also normal every day activity and movement around the house will open up air paths periodically.
The answer really is, will enough air enter the bedrooms to resolve the problem and the answer to that is difficult?

Hi, just enquiring what area does 1 unit cover. In m2. I am building a new bungalow so all 1 floor. Thanks.

    Question by NIGEL ROUNTREE, 08-02-2017

    Hello Nigel

The unit has 6 speed settings which the manufacturer describes as suitable for a one bedroom bungalow up to a five bedroom house.
The lowest speed setting is 10 l/s (36 m3 hr) up to 60 l/s (216 m3 hr) don't forget calculating airflows for living areas only as the kitchen, bathroom, en-suites and any utility room extraction should be Part F compliant.

    Loft Condensation

Hi Would this help with condensation in a loft space, the roof is well insulated and its a end house of 6 but does not have any eves was built around 1970 timber frame brick outside walls.

    Question by Roger, 10-02-2017

    Hello Roger

The answer is No and Yes, so please bear with me!

The indication that you have condensation in your loft points to a lackof ventilation to the loft void, inspect from outside to see if you have slateor tile vents, or ridge tile vents, airbricks or soffit vents.

If there is no ventilation and you installed the Dri Master under these circumstances it would not controlcondensation in your house or the loft as the means of drawing air into thevoid are not sufficient for either.

The installation instructions for this unit begin with the loftinspection below.

Checkto ensure that the loft has adequate ventilation. There may be occasions wherea loft is so well sealed that additional ventilation may have to be provided bythe owner/occupier. Ensure that all water tanks are covered and sealed. Checkthat all water pipes are lagged. Ensure that any extract fans are dischargingto outside and not into the loft. Check that the loft hatch is tightly sealed.Ensure that all holes in the ceilings are sealed i.e. ceiling light fittingsetc

Oncethe loft ventilation has been increased or reinstated the installation of the Dri Master can go ahead and the throughflow of air to the void on the way to the dwelling will create air change andair movement causing surface evaporation and eventual drying of the void andthe dwelling.

    cost / noise

How much does this cost to run . Would it have to be on 24/7 and is it nosey

    Question by mrs Turner, 12-02-2017

    Hello Teresa
The unit running cost is approximately 0.2p per day and on the lower speed settings you would not know it was running. The question regarding do you need to run it 24/7 is down  to the end user and the severity of the problem it is required to control?

    non heat model

If I buy the non heating model is there a way later on to have it converted to a heating one?

    Question by Rowland Tyson, 27-02-2017

    Hi Rowland

Unlike the old version (where the heater could be installed to the basic unit later) that is not the case with the new system (yet).
We would also point out that the heater should not be considered as supplementary home heating but just a system of tempering incoming air in properties with low ceilings.
If you intend to install in a house and have a high stairwell it is unlikely you will require the heater version.

    version req

i have a 3 bedroom end of terrace ex council property, with a pitched roof suffering from mould everywhere, what model nuaire would you recommend

    Question by graham, 01-03-2017

    Hi Graham
If you have a high ceiling in the stairwell the basic unit (without heater) would be sufficient, however, this is designed to work with, and enhance the efficiency of, existing ventilation in the bathroom and kitchen.
So check that these are working efficiently as well. If you expand the Dri master page there is a box titled ''Download product pdf's''and the installation instructions has front section with very good tips on how to inspect your loft for suitability of installation.

    Which model for me?

I suffer from terrible condensation on upstairs windows and walls in one room (the coldest, North facing). It is a four bedroom detached with a high stairwell, what would be the ideal model for me to maximise the benefits of the unit. Thank you

    Question by Stuart turner, 01-03-2017

    Hello Stuart

You have said (written) the magic words in that you have a high ceiling in the stairwell and this is the ideal position for the input air and takes advantage of the warm air that sits at ceiling level (due to convection) and is of no benefit in keeping occupants warm.

Where the system can be installed in a property with high ceilings the basic model is more than adequate and the heat version is unnecessary.

    Noise

Hi How noisy is this product? Is it a low hum or the same noise as a dehumidifier?

    Question by Rachel, 20-03-2017

    Hi Rachel
The unit is located in a loft and there is virtually no motor noise so it is extremely quiet. However, what is silent for one person may be annoying to another. It is definitely quieter than a dehumidifier and if it is installed hanging from the joists the only noise discernible would be air moving through  the diffuser.

    Question by james graham, 03-07-2017

    Hello James

Yes the machine is supplied with a cord to hang from roof beams (though the hook or method of fixing the cord to the beam is not). There is also an anti-vibration mounting kit for fixing to a joist but this needs to be purchased separately and can be viewed by entering QS45620 in the search bar.

    Best system advice please

Hi, I have a 3 bed bungalow with a good sized loft so size of unit isn't an issue. I am curious of which unit would be best for me. We suffer with terrible condensation in every room during the colder months and the bathroom gets black mould near the window reveals. The condensation is almost the entire window streaming with wet. We have double glazing and central heating which we have running 24/7 in the cold months with a min temp of 18deg. I am worried that the system will bring a lot of coolness to the bungalow whilst the heating is on and also I assume that each room has to have the door open for the system to work effectively? Is there a way around this issue? Any advice would be appreciated as I don't want another winter of drying windows and worrying about mould. Many thanks in advance,

    Question by Paul Head, 12-09-2017

    Hello Paul

You describe a severe condensation problem and the system you have indicated will radically improve the situation however, you don't mention what extract ventilation you currently have in the bathroom (or kitchen) and PIV systems are designed to work with adequate extract in these rooms. The concern over the introduction of cold air will largely depend on the height of your ceilings and the temperature inside the loft during cold periods. At these times when the heating is being used warm air rises to ceiling height where the benefit is not felt, the introduction of fresh filtered air is directed across the ceiling and is tempered by this warm air before pressurizing the dwelling.
If you have no extraction in the bathroom/s, kitchen and or utility rooms this should be addressed and with a decent sized loft it may be worth considering a heat recovery system that would deal with the whole dwelling.

    which model do i need

live in a semi detached 2 bedroom bungalow - 5 rooms & hall - which model do I need

    Question by brow2n, 26-09-2017

As far as condensation controlefficiency is concerned there is little difference between the models except the control adjustment for the HC version is accessible without requiring getting into the loft.

The system was designed to be installed to take advantage of convection of warm air, that rises to ceiling level, in houses this would be the stairwell ceiling and the advantage if this warm air is not felt. For properties with lowerceilings and bungalows the heat option is offered to temper the incoming air to compensate for lower ceilings and reduce the chill factor during very cold periods, we should point out that it is not designed to supplement a home heatingsystem and temporarily increasing the internal heating thermostat would be a cheaper option than running the heater option for long periods. Please note that the system is also designed to work with and enhance the efficiency of mechanical ventilation in the bathroom and kitchen.

    Hi Peter

The fact that it has only just been installed will be a contributing factor particularly if the loft was slightly damp as it now needs to dry out and the through flow of air will do this in a matter of 24 - 48 hours!

One thing to check is that the ventilation to the void is adequate as covered in the installation instructions. This is something you may need to ask your installer, ie where is the replacement air coming from? This could be slateor tile vents, or ridge tile vents, if there are none the loft ventilation mayhave been provided by overhanging eaves or soffit vents, if the last two, continuing problems can sometimes be a result of loft insulation being rolledtight into the eaves cutting off this means of airflow.

Oncethe loft ventilation has been increased or reinstated (rolling back the insulationat several points or installing sections of open ducting to clear an air paththrough it) the Dri Master will create air change andair movement causing surface evaporation and eventual drying of the void andthe dwelling.

Nuaire Drimaster Eco width without filters

Hi, I can see on the dimension drawing that unit is 820mm wide with filters. Could you please let me know what is the unit width without filters? (I have limited access to the loft) What is the diameter and length of ducting? Is it possible to replace ducting with slightly longer one? (I might require extra 1m) Thank you

    Question by Tom, 01-11-2017

    Hello Tom

Thank you for your question. The width of the unit without the filters is approx 338mm. The length of the ducting is 2 meters long and the diameter is 200mm. Nuaire do not recommend added extra length's of ducting to the unit as it could impede the performance. If i can help any further please do not hesitate to contact me.

    air vent to loft

i have breather felt to my loft with out ventilation would it work with this

    Question by steve day, 01-12-2017

    Hi Steve

We are of the opinion that the breather felt will not be enough to supply the Dri Master and additional ventilation should be provided from Tile or Slate vents, ridge tile vents or soffit vents

    Cold air from loft?

Hi, I have a 3 bedroom terraced house with hall and high ceiling. My concern is cold air (recently -8)being blown into the house that I am trying to heat. Thanks.

    Question by Steve, 07-03-2018

    Hello Steve

You mention that you have high ceilings and this is an advantage, theunit is designed to introduce air at ceiling level and in houses, when heating isused, the warmest air naturally rises to ceiling height the stairwell isgenerally the highest point in a house and therefore plays host to some of thewarmest air in the dwelling, the benefit of which, is not felt. If the inputcan be located at this level the incoming air is mixed with the warm air, is tempered, andredistributed. During very cold periods the incoming air would be colder but generally we tend to increase the thermostat setting which deposits even warmer air at ceiling height to counter this.

If however you felt  this was  not enough, this recent version has the control settings accessible in the diffuser so during prolonged cold periods we are of the opinion that re-calibrating the input air rate temporarily to a lower setting would still provide the required fresh air but should not impact overmuch on comfort levels.

    Eaves installation

Our house is 3 storeys with the top floor (attic) converted to a bedroom (ie there is no loft space above the attic). Would it be possible to install the unit in the eaves to one side of the attic bedroom? This would mean the diffuser would not be in the centre of the landing ceiling but slightly to one side.

    Question by James T, 19-03-2018

    Hello James

Your question prompts several others including, if there is no loft space how will the duct feed the air to the ceiling diffuser (input valve) and will this still be in the ceiling? If it is close to a flank wall, how close? How high is the ceiling (above ones head) where the diffuser would be located?

    Chalat bungalow

I have two bedrooms upstairs but the highest place I can fit the dri master is on the half landing, would this be okay. Thanks

    Question by Dave Jones, 12-04-2018

    Hello Dave

The reason the stairwell is recommended as the optimum location for the diffuser is that during periods when the heating is on warm air naturally rises to the highest point in the house and is of no benefit to the occupants. The incoming air blends with the warm air and redistributes it.
The question regarding suitability of locating in the half landing is, will there be enough warm air at this point to temper incoming air when cold outside?
(Please don't consider the heater as a supplement to the home heating system it only warms by a couple of degrees).
A more suitable option my be to use the Flatmaster if that can be installed to input at a higher level? Particularly if it can be located in a closet or hot water tank cupboard?

    Drimaster Basic

I had this unit fitted last year and I understand my builder purchased this unit from i-sells website. The product did have an effect on my condensation but not entirely over the winter period. When I access the loft, mainly in summertime, I notice the unit is not on at all. Is this correct? Does the unit work intermittently as I was under the impression that it provided positive pressure at all times...Thank you in advance.

    Question by Danny Glynn, 02-07-2018

    Hi Danny

The Drimaster is a constant running system designed to provide a continuous air supply for condensation control. It does, however, have a thermal cut out if the loft gets too hot in summer months, this is to avoid overheating the property and it should revert to normal running speed when the loft cools.
If the system is not totally controlling the condensation problems the setting may be too low (there are 5 speeds) and the system may need to be re-programmed, instructions are on our website, unfortunately I cannot attach them in this format. If you have trouble accessing them please let us know and I will forward in a direct e-mail.

    Supplier List possibilities

Hi, I have a 2 bedroom flat and having condensation which is giving black mold appearing especially on the cable side of the property. the flat has a roof space and a stairwell. The top of the stairwell is a door which separates the flat from the stairs. Just wondering which unit would be best and also would I have to make the stairwell part of the flat by removing space at top of the door so as to permeate this space using this unit style

    Question by James Soulsby, 11-07-2018

    Hello James

The recommendation to install the input diffuser at the top of a stairwell is based on a whole house solution as warm air from the rooms on the ground floor naturally rises to the highest point in the dwelling. Your description indicates a conversion property and therefore this would not be the recommended solution. We would recommend the Flatmaster possibly located in the hallway of the flat, (this could still draw air from a well ventilated loft void) and by feeding air directly into the dwelling without extra building work. Please note these systems are designed to work with adequate extraction in the bathrooms and kitchens.

    Diffuser size

I have had 2 Drimasters over the last 25 yrs but my current model has died. I'm looking at getting the Eco Hall Control Diffuser but note it has a circular diffuser (as opposed to the square one on my current model). What is the size of the circular diffuser as I don't want to get my ceiling touched up if I can help it.

    Question by Theresa Williams, 08-08-2018

    Hello Theresa

The diffuser is 320mm in diameter which means, if you have had the ceiling painted since the square diffuser was installed, there will be small parts of the ceiling beneath exposed. A temporary solution would be to install the new unit and connect the duct to the old diffuser until it is time to repaint the ceiling. However, because the controls are in the diffuser for the  Hall control model you would need to buy the Loft control version for this to be feasible.

    Placement

My stairwell leads to a small landing (3 metres) one door to the left, one door to the right in a tee shape. It is one metre wide in every direction. Is it ok to put the vent at the top of stair well which is only 1 mtr wide just before it reaches the landing?

    Question by Sam Smyth, 26-10-2018

    Hi Sam

As with everything, there is the ideal location for installation and then there is the compromise through necessity. The stairwell ceiling will still be the warmest part of the house when the heating is on (warm air rises through convection) so the location you describe is still the best. If too close to a flank wall, or the smoke alarm, you may need to install the air dams (supplied).

    fitting the diffuser

hi i have a narrow L-shape hallway which is 4ft wide.i wanted to fit diffuser a metre from front door, but ceiling has a roof beam right down middle of ceiling.as u turn right into second half of L-shape hallway there is a loft hatch then kitchen.i think i can fit diffuser just before lofthatch,as all doors are close by,is that ok?can u please tell me what will happen if diffuser is to near to near a wall,as i wanted to fit near front door as i have a rad which would mix the cold air,but one side of the diffuser would be near wall,so only other spot is near loft hatch. 1 last question,as unit draws air from loft gaps etc ,the soffit boards have been overclad with pvc and underneath is cement board which may or may not contain asbestos.if by chance the wind was to blow a fibre into the air would the filters stop it blowing into house.hope u can help regards

    Question by robert, 21-11-2018

    Hi Robert,

If your diffuser is too near a flank wall or loft hatch you can use the air dams to divert the input away from that direction.
If your 'suspected' asbestos soffits are clad, there will be no soffit ventilation therefore the fresh air supplying the loft should be entering through other means such as tile vents, ridge tile vents or airbricks in gable ends.

    diffuser location

as i stated my bungalow has a narrow L-shape hallway as u walk in from front door,i wanted to fit 1 metre from front door in centre of 4ft wide ceiling ,but have a roof beam above ceiling board,so is it ok to fit near wall and fit air dam near wall side,i want to fit there as i have a rad which would warm the incoming air.the only other place to put is in second half of the L-shape hallway behind loft hatch ,as all the doors lead off there.hope u can answer both questions regards

    Question by robert, 22-11-2018

    Hello Robert

Yes, when restrictions apply, it is ok to fit near a flank wall if applying air dams on the wall side. Taking advantage of convected air from a radiator is also a good idea.

    Product Location

I suffer from running condensation in our upstairs bedrooms. We have a small hallway on the first floor which accesses all bedrooms and then extends above the stairs. What is the optimum position for the unit. On the landing the ideal location is outside of the main bedroom door but I am worried of a slight draught being felt. The other option is on the ceiling above the bottom stair. Would the unit be as effective at this location? If so I wont be able to access the controls on the unit from the hallway so will choose the version with loft controls. I also note this is a basic version is the |HC version more efficient?

    Question by Brian Slade, 30-11-2018

    Hello Brian

From your description you have a perfect location for the input valve (diffuser) and that is above the bottom of the stairs. You are correct in stating the HC version with the controls in the diffuser plate would not be the best option so the basic loft control would be better. There is no difference regarding efficiency between any of the Drimasters it is just the controls that determine the title, for the basic version I would also recommend the two way switch as it gives you a bit more control without accessing the loft.

(excuse the pun)I have had Envirovent to give me a quote but the cost for an Atmos system with a built in heater was more than I am looking to pay.Their rep said there was a good air flow in the loft and he guaranteed to get rid of the condensation problem. What would the Nuaires system with a built in heater cost me and does it come with full instructions. Also what is the length of guarantee for the motor.I look forward to hearing from you and would appreciate any advice. 10 litres of water

Hello, 1,In the beginning of your video it mentions an average family produces 10 litres of water a day, where will this water go as its in the atmosphere? 2, If my family keep doors closed how can condensation be removed from their bedrooms etc?

    Question by Stephen Swift, 27-12-2019

    Hello Stephen

Thank you for your questions. The water will condense onto the windows and walls which will cause condensation and mould. If the doors have gaps underneath then the air from the unit you are looking at will filter into the room if the doors do not have gaps then the doors would have to be left open a bit for the air to filter in. Also for this unit to work your loft space would have to be well ventilated by either Tile Vents, Soffit Vents or Air Bricks.

How does the heat version cost to run a day

Hi I have a 3 bedroom detached bungalow which used to be two semi detached the problem is , we terrible condensation in the bedroom and dining room , utility that causes mould , how much do these heat version cost to run .

    Question by Karen, 13-01-2020

Hi. The latest costs I have are about a year old, but it won't be far out. The cost for the heated version is aprox 10p per day. The Drimaster will certainly make a difference, and if you have an extractor fan in the bathroom, and preferably the kitchen too, then you should be free of condensation within 48hours. This is providing the loft space is well ventilated. We do always recommend the heated version for single storey properties, as there is less space for any warm air to rise.

    ducting

Hi Is it possible to have a section flat ducting from the diffuser back to the main ducting. i would need to go under floor 1m approx. to get to the landing as i have a dormer next to the remaining part of my loft.

    Question by Anthony Morris, 25-12-2020

Hi Anthony and thank you for your question. By adding extra pieces of ducting you will be affecting the airflow. The unit and the ducting that comes with it, has been specially designed to give equal air flow throughout the day. Also, if part of the loft has been converted, you may need to add a couple of extra vent points for the Drimaster to be effective. The other option would be the Flatmaster unit. It is suitable for properties up to 100m2.

Been studying these as we have a severe condensation problem thru winter no matter how we live eg opening windows, never dry washing on rad etc etc but nothing ever changes - will these reach areas like behind beds cupboards etc? Are they guaranteed to work@ - we have trickle vents in every single window and a bathroom fan.

    Question by ANGIE, 10-01-2022

Hi angie, if there is a gap between the wall and the bed for instance then yes it should work as the airflow can reach behind it. If the airflow is blocked because the bed is too close then it won't.

I have a 2 bungalow with pretty bad condensation within the winter months is this product suitable to help avoid condensation? Also I see you have a heated version and if I find this version give off to much of a chill is it possible to buy the heater separately and fit to this version?

    Question by Ryan, 15-01-2022

Good morning Ryan. Unfortunately you cannot retrofit the heater to the non-heated version. Being a bungalow, we would recommend the heated version, but please be aware, the heater is only 400w, so it will only take the edge off the temperature of the incoming air when it is cold.

    Heat control

I am confused does this model have integrated heat, the comparison chart has this crossed out? if it does are all of the controls in the diffuser and can you turn the heat off completely from the diffuser?

    Question by graham, 06-03-2024

Good morning Graham. This model does not have the heater.

DRI-ECO-HEAT-HCS does, but you can't turn the heater off from the controller on the diffuser, just turn down the threshold in which it activates.
DRI-ECO-HEAT-HC is the same as the HCS model above, but has RF capabilities, which means it you buy the 4-way switch DRI-ECO-4S and pair it up, you can deactivate the heat settings at a touch of a button, and boost the fan speed. If you are looking to buy both items, it would be cheaper to buy the bundle DRI-ECO-HEAT-HC-BUN-ECO-4S
