Kair Trakmater Recovery Ventilation Unit - Silent MVHR System

An extremely cost-effective heat recovery ventilation unit specifically designed for single rooms, small apartments, flats or houses. It is also ideal for retrofitting into houses as a damp and condensation solution.

The unit is a single room (dual with short duct runs) heat recovery unit with controllable air exchange for creating the best heat comfort in your home. This unit is controlled by an external speed switch to control the units three fan speeds.
A highly efficient, affordable heat recovery ventilation unit. It delivers filtered, fresh air into your home, and extracts stale, moist and dirty air with minimal heat loss.

    Installation examples:
     - Extract and supply air from a single room
     - Extract air from 1 kitchen and 1 wet room (bathroom, toilet, shower room) and deliver fresh air to 2 living/sleeping rooms (short duct runs).
     - Extract air from 2 wet rooms (bathroom + en-suite) and deliver fresh air to 2 bedrooms (short duct runs).

    Low Profile
Due to its low profile, only 224mm deep it is perfect for mounting in small lofts, void spaces and suspended ceilings.

    Heat Recovery
Maximum heat recovery is achieved with two centrifugal fans moving up to 105 m3/hour (29 l/s) of air and recovering up to 76% of heat with a cross-flow heat recovery core that is normally extracted to outside and waisted. The heat recovery ventilator also very quiet, manufactured from a double skinned acoustically lined box with a removable acoustic lid.

    Easy Mounting
Designed for suspended installation. Built-in mounting brackets for easy mounting to roof purlins, ceiling joists and suspension structures.

    Ducting
Compatible with 125mm ducting. Ducting through void/unheated areas should be thermally protected.
Rigid ducting should be used in preference to flexible ducting.

    Filters
Two G4 filters are included with bottom access for easy and quick maintenance. Condensation control is via a base mounted condensation drain.

    Comes with controller
A pre-wired speed controller is provided to control trickle, boost and purge heat recovery modes (speed 1, 2 & 3) to meet part F of the Building Regulations:

    • 1 - Trickle speed – 57 m3/h, 24 dBA;
    • 2 - Boost speed – 78 m3/h, 32 dBA;
    • 3 - Purge speed – 106 m3/h, 41 dBA.

NB: Please note that due to the current worldwide component shortages, the version you receive may have a different brand name than shown here.

    Usage

Hi I have a pottery shop where i currently vent the exhaust from the two electric kilns to the outside would it be possible to pipe the exhaust from these kilns through the unit so as to recover the heat that has gone into heating the kilns to there temperature for firing asking as with the cost of living we are looking to reuse this heat source as we have to fire the kilns but waste the heat that is generated

    Question by PETER LUCEY, 08-03-2023

Good afternoon Peter and thanks for your question.

The simple answer is no. The is unit should only be ducted to the room, not to (or from a kiln.) If you can keep the ducting to no more than 8m in total, you can extract from one end and supply to another, to create a bit of air movement and ventilate a room, but that's all sadly.
    Kind regards,
    Marc.

    Suitable for bathroom extract

I'm looking to install an extract for an upstairs bathroom in a small 3 bed terrace. The bathroom has some damp issues and there is no space for a through the wall HR unit. 1. Is this unit suitable/ best unit for this use? 2. can I put the supply valve on the landing next to the bathroom and the extract in the bathroom to better distibute the air or should they both be in the bathroom? Thanks.

    Question by Alex, 03-01-2024

Good morning Alex and thanks for your question.

MVHR works differently to extractor fans as it will extract at a slower rate, but compensate that by supplying fresh air into the room, replacing the extracted moist air, however, the bathroom will need to be heated for this unit to be efficient. If it isn't, then a good extractor fan would be the better option. If it is heated, then I would have extract and supply valves in the bathroom, but on opposing ends of the room, with the extract valve as close to the bath or shower as possible. Any ductwork run in the loft will need to be insulated, as does the duct from the unit to the outside, and keep the total duct runs to a maximum length of 8m. You will also require a condensate drain for it too.
    Kind regards,
    Marc.

    Installation

can this unit be wall mounted or is it ceiling mounted

Question by Christopher Mark Petts, 07-02-2024

    Good morning Christopher.

Probably not to be honest, as you would need to get access to the filters from below. Suspending it using the brackets on the unit is probably best.
    Kind regards,
    Marc

    suitability

Hi I am looking to install in the loft and extract from one downstairs shower room (thro airing cupboard) and one upstairs bathroom, with a view to putting fresh air into 2 bedrooms. Is this suitable? Answering this prompts other questions but one at a time... Thank you

    Question by Rod Brench, 08-03-2024

Hi Rod. No this unit will not do that as the unit is really a single room unit.

You would probably need the Vent Axia Integra to do what you need.
    Kind regards,
    Marc
