This is a very powerful fan. At full setting it certainly shifts a lot of air. However, it is easily adjustable to suit the necessary requirements. -

Not a bad piece of kit, took about an hour to install then it took two hours of head scratching trying to find out why it wont work! Waded through the instruction book several times but no joy. Eventually phoned the help line where they informed me it wont work without the cover on. Doh! It has a magnetic switch to sense the cover is in place. On fitting the cover i found there is a label telling the installer this but it is hidden and not obvious hence my overseeing this but it would help if this was flagged up in the instruction book. Otherwise very happy with the product.

Replied by i-sells, 25-06-2015#4Ceiling MountingWill this fan fit directly in place of a silavent ceiling mounted fan, and will it still work efficiently connected to 6m of flexi ducting which is already in situe above the ceiling and cannot be changed.
Question by rick papworth, 12-10-2015Hello Rick,
Yes it can be replaced with a CYFAN, although you may need to check that the dimensions will match. You can read more about ceiling mounting in these Technical Instructions PDF. See bottom of page 7. There should not be any efficiency issues if connecting to your current flexible ducting, it is powerful enough to cope with 6m of ducting.Replied by i-sells, 13-10-2015#5Power supply1) Can I install this fan with only two wires - live & neutral? 2) Why should I want to set it up for 24v - is this quieter, safer and/or more economical?
Question by John Maxwell, 24-10-2015Hello John,
Please refer to the Cyfan Wiring Diagram on page 5 you will find the full instructions based on your preferred installation. We do recommend that a qualified electrician performs the wiring and installation. The 24v transformation would make your Cyfan into Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV). SELV fans may be installed in wet areas in compliance with the IEE wiring regulations. See our video about Bathroom Zones & Wiring Regulations for more information.Replied by i-sells, 27-10-2015#6fan failureI had one of these fans fitted a mnth ago and it has switched to fan failure and the red light is on can you pls advise what I can do

Replied by i-sells, 09-06-2016#7Unaired fanDoes the fan constantly run as it's quite noisey or is there a function where it switches on when it detects humidity in the air?
Question by Nicola, 16-12-2016Hello Nicola
The fan is designed to be constant running (silent) with humidistat controlled boost facility (noisy), if you can hear it then it is on boost, so I would check the humidistat setting as it may be a bit low, or check the pull cord has not activated manual boost.Replied by i-sells, 19-12-2016#8GPE-100XHi, just had the GPE-100X fitted in my bathroom, can the continuous running be disabled or is it a feature of the model, also can the boost running be altered to make it shorter. Question by Yvette, 12-05-2019Hello Yvette
The extraction rate is programmed during installation and the continuous running options are 8, 15 and 30 Litres per second (l/s)Which equate to 29, 54 and 108 cubic metres per hour. The intermittent boost option can be set up to 60l/s (216 M3)Replied by i-sells, 13-05-2019#15Flashing lightsHi there, What does it mean if the extractor fan is flashing amber on 'boost'? The ducting has a 90 degree bend and is vented to the ceiling. Will this fan be capable enough or is there a better alternative?
Question by Pat, 27-09-2023Good morning Pat. This fan can be ceiling mounted, but you may need to remove the pullcord, however, it does rather depend on the duct run length.
The Cyfan can ventilation through around 6m of ducting. Please be aware though that in terms of air resistance, a 90 degree bends is the equivalent of adding 1m to the run.Kind regards,Marc.Replied by i-sells, 28-09-2023#18Bathroom FanCan this be recessed in the ceiling and replace an existing fan? Or does it need to be proud of the ceiling? I am looking to replace a 4" timer xplair.
Question by Judith Macfarlane, 23-02-2024Good morning Judith. Yes it can be recessed into the ceiling, but you will also need to purchase the recess kit. The part number is CYFANRKIT.
We have plenty of both in stock in our warehouse.Kind regards,MarcReplied by i-sells, 24-02-2024#19Subsidary Spigot KitI have a living room next to the kitchen (where the extractor fan is located) so could the spigot kit be used to help to control condensation in the living room or is it only suitable for bathrooms?
Question by Colin Hearson, 06-04-2024Good morning Colin. The Cyfan is an extractor fan, and as such should only be installed in bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. If you wants something the give a bit of ventilation to the living room, then take a look at the Kair K-HRV150 Single Room Heat Recovery Unit, as it will both supply fresh air and extract moist/stale air. I would recommend a decent extractor in the kitchen ducted to atmosphere, such as the Cyfan.
