I was apprehensive at first and a bit worried about the potential noise that this unit would make. I had recently moved from the city to a very rural country cottage so spoiling the new found silence was a definite concern. Im very average with DIY but managed to cut the required hole into a plasterboard ceiling relatively easily. I was fortunate enough to have an electrical socket already in the loft so I just wired a plug on to the supply cable and that was me connected.
Due to the only place I could fit the unit, It was located just round the corner from and a small distance away (1.5 meters) from the nearest bedroom door. Due to this I have been able to set mine on full blast (No 6) and I am unable to hear the fan running from my bedroom.
Immediately i noticed the back of my aluminium letterbox flap was no longer covered in condensation and that the quality of air in my property seemed much fresher. The cooking smells no longer get into the living room even if the adjoining door is open and the cooking smells don't linger like they used to do in the kitchen.
Even with all the internal doors open the only place i can feel a temperature difference is near the defuser in the hallway. My central heating is run of a coal/logs burning stove and the heat can be ridiculous, so walking up the stairs and in the cooler hallway can sometimes be quite refreshing.
Within a week of fitting we had a really cold snap that caused the heater to kick in which tempered the lower air temperature in the hallway which seemed to work well and make sense.
I initially bought this unit due to the homebuyers report stating about condensation and slight dampness which was causing small amounts of black mould and while its early days, i have full confidence in this item.
Just before writing the review I slightly cracked the kitchen window open and held a thin piece of tissue paper (bog roll) next to the gap and lo and behold the tissue paper was being pulled towards the gap which reinforces the fact that the air is being pushed out of the property.
I'm totally convinced and would definitely have one fitted in any future property that I might purchase.
