100mm 4 inch Round PVC Inline Backdraught Shutter
For inline ducting use Manrose 414CD instead
Prevents backdraught when the fan is not in use. Designed to meet and conform to the latest building regulations. The designs have significant advantages over conventional round systems. Its low profile enables it to be concealed when installed along the top of wall units.
Note: As of 2015/October: Item may now be manufactured with Metal springs rather than a plastic strip. This does not affect the performance of the item.
For use with Manrose inline fans
PLEASE NOTE - This product is only supplied with one spring / plastic strip. This product is designed for use with Manrose small fans. For inline ducting use Manrose 414CD or DUCVKC303 instead

Looks OK appears to work -

Fitted the product and disappointed with its performance, as per other reviews there is only 1 weak flimsy spring fitted which only seems to close one of the flaps fully, i have tried fitting it 2 ways one flap on top of the other and turned it 90 degrees so the flaps both hang vertically side by side but the spring only fully shuts one of the flaps as it is such a loose fitting spring and does not put tension on both flaps Definitely would not reccomend this product and i am surprised with a company like Manrose that produces such good quality products as put their name to this poor product The only good thing is that it fitted straight on to the spigot of an existing Manrose fan Nothing against I Sells the product was delivered in a fast and efficient manner -

This is for the second Manrose fan to which I going to add this type of fitting. The first one worked and this one also seems to be ready to instal, the one spring seems strong / effective enough - great expectations! (It opens with a gentle blow on it and closes easily.) -

I've only checked its operation along with all the other parts that I am planning on using for my bathroom in-line extractor system and it works but I can't say how well it will do to prevent any potential back draught until it is in place and commissioned. -

1 star is not for the product but for the description. The description says "For Manrose fans" and only after I receive the product do I discover that it can only be used in a horizontal set up. The poor description needs updated! -

#1number of springsIve just received delivery of R1230 4" in line Manrose shutter with only one spring attached is this correct ? Many thanks Phil
Question by Philomena, 15-06-2015Hello Phil,
This is indeed correct. This is how the item is supplied from the manufacturer. They occassionaly change their design and I believe there were reported problems with the two-spring design, which is why they have switched to just a single spring which is more than sufficient for the item's application.
Please let us know if you have any other queries.
With kind regards,
MichaelReplied by i-sells, 15-06-2015#2Manrose MF 100 T In-Line Fan TimerPlease advise how this back draught shutter should be installed to operate correctly with the above fan model. Thank you.
Question by Des Powrie, 15-10-2015Hello Des,
The MAN1230 In-Line Damper is designed for use with the Manrose ID100 fan range, which has sligtly different dimensions to the MF100 range.
It can be used with the MF100T fan but is not designed to fit straight on, and so therefore it would need to be taped or otherwise affixed to the MF100T.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
MichaelReplied by i-sells, 19-10-2015#3RetrofitI was wondering if this product diameter is 100mm so that it can be put into the wall of an existing system. Thanks
Question by Greg Winton, 10-12-2015Hello Greg
Thank you for your question. This item fits into 4" ducting and is installed horizontally into your duct run.
Replied by i-sells, 10-12-2015#4Non return flapWill this item work in a vertical position on the exhaust from a cooker hood with goes vertically upwards
Question by john nichols, 18-03-2016Hello John
Thank you for your question. The Manrose backdraught shutter only works in the horizontal position where as our Kair backdraught shutter works in the vertical & horizontal position. Product code for this item is QS256.
Replied by i-sells, 18-03-2016#51230 backdraugt shutter 100mmwould like to know if this item goes on the vent inside or after the fan and does it fit in side the flexible pipe thank you
Question by Howard, 15-10-2016Hello Howard
This should be located after the fan and before the ducting to the exhaust vent. This particular item is only compatible with Manrose In line fans and ducting, if you are unsure of the manufacturer of either the fan or duct I would recommend product DUCVKC303 which is more likely to be compatibleI hope this helpsReplied by i-sells, 17-10-2016#7Duct RunYou state that this mounts horizontally which I assume means the duct run. Is there a product that has shutters which mounts in the soffit to exhaust outside?
Question by rekless773@aol.com, 10-04-2017Hello
Thank you for your question. Depending on the size of your soffit we do a 76mm soffit grille product code for this item is QS2790 or a 100mm grille with fly mesh the product code for this item is QS209. If I can help any further please do not hesitate to contact me on 0208 463 9683

Replied by i-sells, 10-04-2017#10which one?I am considering buying a MF100T fan. You have mentioned this is not desingned for that fan. Which one is designed for that fan please?
Question by Bob, 17-11-2017Hello Bob
Thank you for your question The QS256 back draught shutter will do your application. This item will require a female sleeve product code QS1586 or a piece of 100mm pipe if you are connecting straight onto the fan as both connections are male. If I can help any further please do not hesitate to contact meKind RegardsAnitaReplied by i-sells, 17-11-2017#11Manrose 1230 Back Draught ShutterHave old extractor fan fitted above ceiling in shower with about 5ft of flexible hose leading to outlet in soffit. Fan is in middle of hose. Need to stop draught from this when fan not working. Flexible hose is old 4-inch and existing plastic cover horizontal on ceiling (old Silavent D154) has circular outlet about 98mm o/d and 95mm i/d. Is this correct product to fit between cover and hose and do I need any extra fittings to make it work properly? Thanks
Question by Chris Westbey, 12-03-2020Hi Chris. This item is designed to be fitted either on the back of wall mounted Manrose fans, or inside the duct run. It is best to use rigid duct if you are going to do that, and you may well need a couple of male couplers to hold it in place. There is a video on our website. Alternatively, you could look at the Kair Cowled Grilles. These have a damper flap behind them, tha pretects against backdraught. If the wall is exposed to higher than normal winds, then you might want to look at the Stainless Steel version - QS49029.
