How to install your Drimaster unit

    • 1. To install the diffuser, cut out a section of the ceiling in the central position of your landing hallway. If possible, at least 1m away from a smoke alarm or CO2 monitor.
    • 2. In the loft cavity, mark the centre point between two joists, and drill a hole in the centre point.
    • 3. Using the diffuser template provided, line up the centre point, and mark out the section to be cut out of the ceiling.
    • 4. Cut out the section of ceiling ready for the diffuser, then fit the diffuser into the hole, and secure with the screws and plasterboard plugs provided.
    • 5. Once the diffuser is secured, fit the ducting over the heater and over the screws, then attach the supplied cable tie below the screws to secure the duct to the heater.
    • 6. Connect the data cable to the diffuser interface panel, then the heater to the diffuser.
    • 7. Attach the ducting to the fan, and secure using a cable tie.
    • 8. Fix a screw to a convinient joist near the diffuser. If possible, suspending the unit approx 2/3 of the loft height to capitalise on solar gain, making sure the duct is not overstreteched.
    • 9. Ensure that the filters are fitted securely.
    • 10. When the unit is in position, connect the data cable from the heater to the unit, then the heater mains cable back to the unit.
    • 11. Ensure there is a minimum of 50mm between the heat power and data cable.
    • 12. Before connectiong the drimaster eco to the phase connection unit, check that supply voltage is correct. Isolate at the mains before connecting the drimaster to the fuse connection unit. Then re-instate the power supply.

    Nuaire Drimaster Hung Loft Units

The unique DRI-ECO-HEAT-HC incorporates all of the functions of our DRI-ECO-LINK-HC unit but with the benefit of an integral heating element, located between the flexible duct and ceiling diffuser.

This heating component will temper the air which is distributed through the property via the ceiling diffuser, thus ensuring a comfortable living environment. This pioneering design sees the low watt heater (400w) react efficiently and effectively, guaranteeing an economically friendly product.

A temperature sensor on the outside of the unit monitors and controls the heater output to maintain the set point. The set point ranges from 5° to 15° and can be adjusted from the ceiling diffuser. If the temperature at the heater outlet is above the set point, the heater will not activate.

Please note, it is not possible to retro-fit a heater to other Drimaster Eco models.

The DRIMASTER-ECO range provides whole home ventilation using the Positive Input Ventilation principle, which introduces fresh filtered air into the dwelling at a continuous rate, encouraging movement of air from inside to outside.

After reading countless reviews I decided to buy this. Its pretty good an has cleared around _95% of condensation but in fairness you do need to leave internal doors cracked for it to be more effective. of course its no longer winter so we will see if it keeps up the great work but Im expecting it too. Only giving a 4 because A) you can hear it quite easily and no its not silent but easily ignored and B) expected humidity levels to drop massively but currently sit between 65-68% on level 3. Expected mid 5's and its been in 3 weeks now. Just about to order the flatmaster too for our single skin separate laundry room and it has its own door and isnt reached.

This is brilliant, if you’re suffering from lots of condensation and patches of black mould don’t hesitate in fitting one to your home. I’ve installed it to our bungalow it was an easy diy installation and once up and running you could notice a difference within a few hours and now after 2 weeks the humidity inside has dropped around 30%.

I was apprehensive at first and a bit worried about the potential noise that this unit would make. I had recently moved from the city to a very rural country cottage so spoiling the new found silence was a definite concern. Im very average with DIY but managed to cut the required hole into a plasterboard ceiling relatively easily. I was fortunate enough to have an electrical socket already in the loft so I just wired a plug on to the supply cable and that was me connected. Due to the only place I could fit the unit, It was located just round the corner from and a small distance away (1.5 meters) from the nearest bedroom door. Due to this I have been able to set mine on full blast (No 6) and I am unable to hear the fan running from my bedroom. Immediately i noticed the back of my aluminium letterbox flap was no longer covered in condensation and that the quality of air in my property seemed much fresher. The cooking smells no longer get into the living room even if the adjoining [Read More..]

Having had the OLD green Drimaster Heat in use in my house for 5 years and being very impressed with how such a simple fan setup can keep the house fresh and dry I was getting frustrated with having to get the loft ladders out to access the loft to change the fan speed etc. Once in the loft this would involve the awkward task of navigating the loft insulation and beams to get to the fan unit where the controls for the fan were. In the warmer months and spring I have the fan speed set on speed 6 which is the maximum setting as a like the house to be well aired and fresh. YouTube overview: [...] The concept: The fan is mounted at a central point in the house, usually the hall or landing. This fan pulls air from the loft that is generally a few degrees warmer than outside even in winter months and this fresh air is used to ventilate the house. You can keep your windows closed as the house is not air tight so think of your house like a balloon with small holes in it, the fan blows air i [Read More..]

    suitability

Hi could you please tell me if this unit would be suitable to rid us of condensation and mould in a old stone cottage as what the approximate running costs are.

    Question by Nigel cave, 15-11-2016

Hello NigelThank you for your question. As long as your loft is ventilated IE: has tile vents, or airbricks, or soffit vents for the outside air to come in then this unit will do your application. Nuaire has advised us that the estimated cost per year would be between £30.00 & £35.00, however this does depend on your tariff. If I can help any further please do not hesitate to contact me on 0208 463 9683Kind RegardsAnita

    Ducting

Can you confirm the duct size for drilling the ceiling please? Also, can you extend the duct to two locations with a T-piece as I want to discharge in two locations due to the layout of my property? Thanks Damon

    Question by Damon, 19-11-2016

    Hello Damon

The duct size is 200mm and the hole required is 225mm, if discharging to two points we would suggest reducing the duct from the 'T' down to 150mm to maintain pressure.

    PIV

What controls the heater on this eco heat piv. Does it heat the air all winter 24hrs a day? I can't see it being very economical to run would a ordinary PIV be OK for a 3 bedroom bungalow? How do they cope when for instance the outside humidity today is 92% and the inside is 71%? Hope to here from you soon Colin.

    Question by Colin Campbell, 12-12-2016

    Hello Colin

The heater is thermostat controlled and triggered when the temperature of the incoming air drops bellow comfort level, the range options are between 10 - 20 degrees and the setting is activated by the user (controller is in the diffuser).

The heater should be considered as a means of tempering the incoming air not as supplementary home heating as it would be cheaper to compensate for incoming cool air by temporarily increasing the heating thermostat.

The basic PIV was designed for houses which have a high ceiling at the top of the stairwell the incoming air would be blended with warm air that rises to ceiling height through convection, the heater version was introduced for properties such as bungalows that may have the same air volume but do not have the ceiling height.

You are correct, it is possiblethat during a very wet period we may get periods of high external humidityparticularly if it is wet and warm as the air can retain water vapour andthe lack of air movement (breeze) makes the air clammy and uncomfortable. However, it would be during a time like this that windows and doors are morelikely to be opened to provide additional air change, the continuous air movement prevents stagnant airpockets and creates a drying effect.

Temporary periods of high humidity outside are not a cause for concern as the RH is relative to temperature and even if introduced into the home the higher internal temperature will reduce the RH, even rainy periods during winter do not generally reach very high levels of humidity because theair is less able to hold moisture as vapour and during very cold periodshumidity can drop to 25% - 35%, evaporation of rainwater after a fall iscreated less by heat evaporation but is usually caused through increased airmovement due to high winds (same effect as drying clothes on a line) and it isduring these periods when we want to keep all of the windows and doors shut, but continue (as needs require) to create water vapour, internal humiditylevels can be kept stable through strategic use of heating, insulation andcontrolled air changes.

I have tried to keep this answersimple but also hope it answers your question.

    Drimaster

HI, can you tell me what the differences are between the Drimaster Heat and the newer Drimaster Eco Heat version please?

    Question by Kelly, 19-12-2016

    Hi Kelly

There are no real differences they are more design improvements.
    These are:-
    Circular diffuser (more aesthetically pleasing)
The controls to program the machine speeds are behind the diffuser plate so access to the loft is not required for reprogramming.
The heater is now also behind the diffuser making it more efficient and enabling the wattage to be reduced.
    I hope this helps.

    Loft spray foam insulation

We have a loft which has had spray foam insulation added many years ago, yet we have really bad condensation, does the Nuaire product still work effectively with the spray foam ?

    Question by David Green, 03-01-2017

    Hello David

This will depend how the spray foam has been done and if your loft still has adequate natural ventilation, ie if the eaves ventilation is still open.
If you can see tile or ridge tile vents from outside these may have been sealed from inside and will need to be reopened.
The Nuaire Drimaster range was designed for this type of application but the provision of adequate loft ventilation is essential.

    Reducing humidity in basement

I have moved into a period property on three levels including a basement which has been tanked however we have high levels of humidity in the North facing basement and some salts & black mold appearing on a few internal basement walls. Although we are about to upgrade the central heating I expect that high humidity may continue to be an issue would the Nudari Eco Heat or any other system help?

    Question by Una, 09-01-2017

    Hello Una

It would largely depend on what the basement is being used for and if there are any vapour producing rooms down there.
The salts and black mould are occurring because humidity is high due to lack of air changes, it is likely that (because it is part earth retaining) air willneed to be directed to problem areas and because of this we would probably recommend the Nuaire Flatmaster with heat QS18856 or QS18857

    Setting the temperature set point

In the pdf on page 3, section 10.4 it says, "The set point ranges between 10 degrees C (fully anti-clockwise) and 20 degrees C (fully clockwise). If that is the case the mid point would be 15 degrees C. But in the I-sells youtube video I posted below it says "they recommend a mid point of 10 degrees." Which is correct please? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz4jbXrkTWM&index=2&list=PLia-C2J6cpQj7CojIV2oWLiQacOnGdkki

    Question by Andy, 31-01-2017

    Hello Andy

There is no 'correct' setting simply because some people prefer cooler homes than others and some are more susceptible to feeling cold when temperatures are really quite mild. We believe the range of the temperature setting (10 - 20 degrees) on the unit has been chosen to reflect mean temperatures in the UK
(I remember reading somewhere that an average temperature across a British winter is 7 degrees).
Obviously the setting should reflect the occupants comfort levels but also should not be set too high as small temperature variances during a single day could have the heater activating unnecessarily. The other thing to consider is that the 'heater' is there to take the chill off incoming air when temperatures fall, it should not be considered a supplement to a heating system, if low temperatures were sustained for any length of time it is more cost effective to increase the thermostat setting for the dwellings' heating system.

What is the mid point of the blue dial on the diffuser?

Thanks for your reply. I was not asking what temperature is correct for a home as that is subjective. I was asking what the mid point setting of the blue dial is. I assume it is 15 degree C but at 5 minutes 10 seconds of the isells video I posted in my previous post it states the mid position is 10 degrees C.

    Question by Andy, 01-02-2017

I have checked the product brochure (specification section) and this states that the set point will be adjustable between 6?C and 20?C.

Therefore the mid setting will be 13 degrees

    vent outlets

do I need to close the air-vents that are in my pvcu windows

    Question by David Birkett, 01-02-2017

    Hello Dave

Only if you have a window with vent on the landing close to the input valve.
Other trickle vents can be open or closed, each is a release point but curtains, blinds, internal and external doors all being open closed etc throughout a normal day will generally create distribution of air and a balance of air changes without having to be too scientific about it. You can play around with air pressure release so if you want to air the bedrooms for instance open all trickle vents and bedroom doors for a couple of hours.
If you feel that one room could do with more airflow (eg downstairs dining room) then closing off trickle vents in the upstairs rooms will create more pressure and opening the chosen room vent will create the pressure release. Generally internal doors are not airtight so ensuring they are kept open is not necessary.

    boiler

I have got my central heating boiler in the loft,is it ok tofit a unit also

    Question by Frederick Monks, 02-02-2017

    Hello Frederick

The only answer I can offer sight unseen would be yes, provided the loft is very well ventilated, there are some Gas Safe guidelines in BS5440 / C1which recommends a minimum distance of 300mm between a flue and a lateral 'ventopening' however, this does not appear to take into account an actual airintake point for PIV or MVHR and does not seem to have been updated to accountfor this type of system.Basically all care  must be taken to avoid creating a negative pressure t hat may draw flue gases to the unit. If you download the product pdf title installation and Maintenance there is a very good section at the front regarding inspecting your loft for adequate ventilation. However, if in doubt we would recommend you consult with the boiler manufacturer or a Gas Safe engineer.

    Settings

Hi, I notice in the picture it has a dial on the bottom part, which I guess is for altering settings. Does this means that you have to go up ladders to alter it if need to or I is there a wall mounted switch that can come with it to make this easier which also has an on off switch when away on holiday etc.

    Question by Paul Higham, 11-02-2017

    Hi Paul
The control panel for setting the system is in the diffuser and should you require to reset the system at any time access to this would be necessary.
The system is supplied with a fused spur and if you install with a switched spur instead you would have an on/off option there are other control options as well including the trickle/boost and heater override switch (QS45551).

    Which one?

Hi. Trying to make my mind up on the best one to get for my house. Reading question 5 from Colin got me thinking which one I actually really need. Normal PIV model or the newer heater version. My upstairs hall where it would go has a very high ceiling. Older style house with 9' ceiling however top to stairs to foor on the first part landing is a good 10 to 11'. I have read that the normal versions pump out cooler air and some have stated it can get a little chilly. Whereas the heater heats the air flow. What is the difference in temperature between the two? and which one is best for an older house with higher ceilings. There's a big difference in price, so would like to get the correct one. Don't want to be left regretting getting one that feels chilly when you walk past it, but don't want one that cost more on my electricity bills when I don't really need it. Regards

Using outside air instead of loft air.

Hi.Our loft air quality is not great tends to get black particles floating around which tends to cover boxes etc. There is a v slight smell too. Our insulation in the loft may need replacing it has vermiculite with normal insulation roll ontop. It would be difficult job to replace. My concern is the quality of loft air venting around the house. I have heard people on forums telling stories of musty smells being distributed around the house. Can the PIV filter cope with this or will it need need replacing often surely it would be black in no time. We do have new roof vents so fresh air can circulate. Can you connect the PIV to draw outside air instead of using internal loft air?? A friend of mine claims he has done this but using a Kair PIV unit. I know you could use a flatmaster & connect but we have a standard 3 bedroom semi + loft so would not be adequate. Looked at Whole House Ventilation which does draw air from outside but this is obviously an expensive option. Any

    Question by Jason, 22-02-2017

    Hello Jason

What you are describing is stale loft air and a fear of introducing this to the dwelling. There is a real probability that the air is stale because there is a lack of ventilation or air change up there and this may be due to the double loft insulation cutting off the natural eaves ventilation.

Inspect from outside to see if you have slateor tile vents, or ridge tile vents, if there are none the loft ventilation mayhave been provided by overhanging eaves or soffit vents, if the last two, condensation problems can sometimes be a result of loft insulation being rolledtight into the eaves cutting off this means of airflow.

If you installed the Dri Master under these circumstances it would not improve air quality or controlcondensation in your house or the loft as the means of drawing air into thevoid are not sufficient for either.

Checkto ensure that the loft has adequate ventilation. There may be occasions wherea loft is so well sealed that additional ventilation may have to be provided. Ensure that all water tanks are covered and sealed. Checkthat all water pipes are lagged. Ensure that any extract fans are dischargingto outside and not into the loft. Check that the loft hatch is sealed.Ensure that all holes in the ceilings are sealed i.e. recessed ceiling lights etc

Oncethe loft ventilation has been increased or reinstated (rolling back the insulationat several points or installing sections of open ducting to clear an air paththrough it) the installation of the Dri Master can go ahead and the throughflow of air to the void on the way to the dwelling will create air change andair movement diluting stale air eventually drying the void andthe dwelling.

This may take several days and cleaning of the filters every few weeks initially but after a short time the air being introduced to the dwelling will be from atmosphere.

Trying to decide between model with or without heater - what is the difference in running costs?

    Question by Sarah Pascale, 22-02-2017

    Hello Sarah

The heater is thermostatcontrolled and triggered when the temperature of the incoming air drops bellowcomfort level, the range options are between 10 - 20 degrees and the setting isactivated by the user (controller is in the diffuser).

The heater should beconsidered as a means of tempering the incoming air not as supplementary homeheating as, over a prolonged cold spell, it would be cheaper to compensate for incoming cool air bytemporarily increasing the heating thermostat.

The basic PIV was designedfor houses which have a high ceiling at the top of the stairwell the incomingair would be blended with warm air that rises to ceiling height throughconvection, the heater version was introduced for properties such as bungalowsthat may have the same air volume but do not have the ceiling height.

The answer is really if you have a house and the system is to be installed in the loft supplying to the stairwell you probably do not need the heater version. If the heater was used regularly over a bad winter it could add up to 35.00 per year to the running costs.

    Opening windows in warmer months

If I wish to leave the Drimaster eco heat on all year round to improve air quality, when the weather warms up is it ok to open some windows in my bungalow or will this disrupt the efficiency of the PIV unit?

    Question by Andrew, 20-03-2017

    Hi Andrew

There is nothing wrong with opening windows when the weather is fine to get through draughts, the unit running at night when windows are closed for security will prove beneficial in hot muggy conditions and at least the incoming air is filtered as well.

    set up sytem in flat

I have a ground floor flat which has severe mould problems, despite all trickle vents being open. It has only electric heating. Could I use 1 of these units to solve the problem, and if so which would be best? With a heating option if possible.

Question by Mrs S Mitchell, 22-03-2017

    Hello Suzanne

The system you have looked at is designed to be loft sited as it is quite large however, there is also a smaller version designed for flats and which also come with a heater option.
They are the Flatmaster 2000L and 2000R they work in exactly the same way, and will utilise the aforementioned  trickle vents however, these are also meant to work with existing forms of mechanical ventilation in bathrooms and kitchens.

    Condensation

Hi, we have a 3 bed bungalow with a vented loft space. Bad condensation particularly in bedrooms on windows. In our bedroom we just had a lovely bespoke fitted wardrobe on an outside wall, which infuriatingly gets condensation on external wall if temperatures drop. I'm interested in your product. Would I need 3 units, one for each bedroom? We have 2 close down one end, but another at opposite end of bungalow. Is fitting in bedroom ok with air blowing in vent?

    Question by Gwen Nutting, 25-03-2017

    Hello Gwen

Thank you for your question. You will only require one unit which will do your application. The unit has to be fitted in the loft and the diffuser is situated in the hall as this is the main central point for the whole property. If I can help any further please do not hesitate to contact me on 0208 463 9683

    Splitting the airflow.

I have a 3 bedroom property that has been over sealed by the previous owners renovations. My sons room suffers greatly from black mould on the walls as does the hall way, which even forms puddles at the foot of the stairs during colder months. I have looked at getting one of these units to help reduce the condensation problem however I think we would need a second outlet in the lads room. You have mentioned in a previous answer about splitting the airflow to 2 locations by reducing the 200mm outlet to a 150mm. How would this work if the heater unit is fixed with a 200mm input? Also do you supply the reducer parts and ducts/diffusers?

    Question by A Tomlinson, 05-04-2017

Hello and thank you for your question

I need to make a presumption as you mention ''puddles at the foot of the stairs'' that the property is a house and you therefore have a stairwell.
If this presumption is correct I would strongly recommend that you start by keeping things simple and carry out the installation as recommended, you will find the transformation staggering and may not need to think of complicating the installation.
I think our answers to previous questions regarding the splitting of input air has been centred on the Flatmaster system which is installed where there is no loft and the shape of the dwelling is such that directing air specifically is necessary.
To recap, stick to a standard installation you will know if some tweaking of the installation is necessary within a few days and this may be possible by strategic insertion of air dams that are supplied with the machine.

    PIV with continuous bathroom extraction

Will PIV "work" alongside continuous/constant bathroom fan extraction (6-15 l/s). The concern being that the new air introduced into property by the PIV will simply get extracted by the bathroom ventilation without allowing the PIV to build up adequate pressure/flow. That or the effect of the PIV will be minimised. Would you recommend turning off continuous bathroom ventilation if present?

    Question by Bill Peters, 06-07-2017

    Hello Bill

Much would depend on how close the PIV input diffuser would be in relation to the bathroom? If the bathroom was off the landing and the PIV input to the stairwell there may be a short circuit if the bathroom door was open as it probably would not be able to build up the pressure to force air change in all rooms, otherwise I do not see a problem if the bathroom door is regularly shut as the unit brings in much more air than is being extracted by the fan on low speed

    Running costs (again)

Hi, I am looking at putting a unit into my daughter's flat and am looking at the heat and non-heat units. there seems to be a bit of contradiction in your previous responses to running costs. In one response you say £30-£35 per year and in another it's £50 per month. I presume the latter is assuming the unit is running constantly, which I believe it doesn't: I understand that you can set a thermostat on it and it is only when the loft air temperature falls below that setting that the heater will 'kick in'. Obviously £50 per month is very highand would be prohibitive so do you have any real data on which to base running costs? Thanks

    Question by Trevor, 26-07-2017

    Hello Trevor

The data is real, it is just a matter of working out how much electricity the heater uses per hour and the cost of the electricity you buy, this can vary between 11 and 15p per kilowatt hour. The worst case scenario was based on a full month during winter when the temp does not rise above 5 degrees and the heater is on for the whole month. Obviously this wouldn't happen and I believe in one of the answers we suggest if it did it would be wise to disconnect the heater and increase the central heating thermostat to compensate. We would also add again that the heater does not 'heat' the incoming air it just takes the chill off and should not be considered a suppliment to the heating system. The answer to the heater/no heater question should be based around where the input air is introduced and if this can  be the top of the stairwell and unreachable by hand without steps the heater should be unnecessary because warm air rising to that level through convection will do the tempering anyway.

    Ceiling duct position

Hi. Does the ceiling duct have to be positioned in the centre of the house? Due to a loft extension, it will not be possible to put the duct at the top of my stairwell. The only open loft space we have is 8-10ft away from the top of the stairs, above a small corridor. Would the device still work sufficiently in this position? Many thanks.

    Question by Martin, 16-08-2017

    Hello Martin

The stairwell is the optimum position for the input as warm air rises through convection to the ceiling at the highest part of the dwelling. There is no reason to suspect the unit will not work although you may need to utilise the air dams to direct airflow away from flank walls if they are close to the input.

    2 Bedroom Bungalow

Which model do I need to purchase for a two bedroom Bungalow,? Also does this unit need to be wired into the electrics,? Do you have any recommended fitters based in the North east of England.?

    Question by Peter Moore, 28-08-2017

    Hello Peter

The basic model with hall control (speed adjustable from the diffuser) would probably be suitable, the heater version may be required if you have a cold loft and low ceilings but raising the central heating thermostat is more cost effective.
The system should be installed by a competent electrician, however there is a video on you tube (also accessible from our website) showing a DIY installation.

    noise of Eco heat machine

HI - does this machine make a noise at all? and can it be fitted in a thatched property (it its almost windy in our loft space!)

    Question by scarlett mitcheson, 03-09-2017

    Hello Scarlett
The unit can be fitted in any well ventilated loft void.
The unit has 6 speed settings (1 - 6) and noise on the lowest speeds 1/2 is described as imperceptible, the machine is designed to be hung from roof beams so there is no vibration noise, therefore air movement through the diffuser is the most likely source of sound on the higher settings and whether you hear this will be largely due to how close you are to the vent or how high your ceilings are.

    Drimaster PIV unit

Hello, I am torn between whether I buy a heated unit or a standard one. What would determine this issue. I need one for a 4 bedroom house, one for a three bedroom house and one for a single bed flat with loftspace. Could you advise? Thanks

    Question by STUART TURNER, 15-09-2017

    Hello Stuart

The with/without issue should  be determined by where the diffuser is to be located.
The unit is designed to introduce air at high level and in houses, when heating is used, the warmest air naturally rises to ceiling height the stairwell ceiling generally being the highest point in a house therefore plays host to some of the warmest air in the dwelling, the benefit of which, is not felt. If the input can be located at this level the incoming air is immediately tempered and redistributed. This type of installation would NOT require the heater version.
In a single floor property with lower ceilings 2.4m the air at ceiling height is less warm and the heat transfer to incoming air is reduced and in this case consideration for including the heater may be given. However, if cooler air was being introduced over any length of time it would be much more cost effective to compensate by temporarily increasing the heating by a couple of degrees than running the heater option.

    Heater function

Is the heater just for comfort (respondents talk of cool air being circulated when no heater) or is it essential for the quality of the air circulation (is heated air more efficient than cool air)? Thanks Richard

    Question by Richard, 21-09-2017

    Hello Richard

The heater is only a means of taking the chill off of cold air when temperatures drop below comfort level it shouldn't be considered as a suppliment to a heating system and it doesn't blow warm air around the dwelling. For anyone considering this system the question should be, should I order the heater option or standard version?

The with/without issue should be determined by the type of dwelling in which the unit is to be installed and where thediffuser is to be located.

The system is designed to introduce air at high level and in houses, when heating is used, the warmest air naturally rises to ceiling height and is kept there by loft insulation, thestairwell ceiling generally being the highest point in a house therefore playshost to some of the warmest air in the dwelling, the benefit of which, is notfelt. If the input can be located at this level the incoming air is immediatelytempered and warm air redistributed. This type of installation would NOT require theheater version.

In a single floor property with lower ceilings 2.4m the air atceiling height is less warm and the heat transfer to incoming air is reducedand in this case consideration for including the heater may be given. However if, during a severe weather period, cooler air was being introduced over any length of time it would be muchmore cost effective to compensate by temporarily increasing the central heating by acouple of degrees than running the heater option.

    Nuaire Drimaster-Heat-Eco

I would like to know the following: The Nuaire Drimaster-Heat-Eco can have the diffuser on a right wall. When the diffuser is on the roof of the house, be on a side wall, as close to the ceiling as possible. I have loft, but the top of the rooms is low, so I only have the diffuser aside. One more question my apartment has a strange setup, so I'll have to put two of these appliances on each side of the house (and the two with the same problem as the diffusers). But the question is whether they can work together, and with the same commands? Thank you.

    Cottage

Hi, we live in a cottage with condensation / mould problems at the back of the building. There is a hatch at the top of the stairs, but because it's a vaulted ceiling, the only place to house the inlet / outlet would be in the hatch cover. Is this feasible? There is a good sized roof space to one side of the hatch, but this is over a bedroom.

    Question by Stewart, 08-11-2017

    Hello Stewart

Provided the unit is hung from the rafters I really cannot think why not as the duct will concertina backwards if you need access to the loft and then extend back into place when closed. Care should obviously be taken cutting the hole in the hatch to ensure its integrity is maintained.

    Grill distance from walls

I am hoping to purchase one of these, but my loft hatch takes up quite a bit of my landing ceiling. What’s is the closest the grill can be to walls/loft hatch/light fittings to work efficiently

    Question by Brennan white, 08-11-2017

    Hello Brennan

The diffuser distributes air evenly an all directions and care should be taken to ensure it does not affect smoke alarms or is placed too close 0.5m to an obstruction (wall).
Air dams are provided to redirect the airflows if proximity to either is unavoidable. There is no recommendation regarding the loft hatch (apart from it being well sealed) or light fittings but common sense should prevail.
We would recommend reading the installation instructions before purchasing and these can be found on the relevant product page (download pdf's box) sorry I cannot attach in this format.

The only model within the new range that you would be able to do this with is the NUADRI-ECO-LC (QS45545) which is the basic model.

    room thermostat

I am considering fitting a drimaster eco heat in the hall of my three bed bungalow the central heating thermostat is 1.5 metes from where I would need to locate the diffuser would this cause any problems. Also the door to the lounge is 1.5 metres away ,would you feel the cold air coming into room. making it uncomfortable

    Question by STEVE, 07-01-2018

    Hello Steve

The input shouldn't overly affect the central thermostat as, presumably, it will be located approx 1.5m from floor level and the incoming air will be introduced and distributed at ceiling height.
You can also play around with the setting for the input rate in that if the recommended setting for your property is 3 you can reduce to 2 and monitor whether the system is still effective. Additionally if you felt the thermostat was being affected you can incorporate the air dams (supplied with the unit) to direct air away from it.

    Drimaster with Heater

2 things; I have had the unit fitted and it has already cleared up the comdensation problem in 2 weeks flat. I am now looking to set the correct speed[it was set at 4] for normal running going forward and also the temp which was originally set at 14C. Also, what happens to the unit in spring/summer and can it be switched off then? It has been hard wired in to the supply

    Question by EYRDUNCAN, 31-01-2018

    Hi Duncan

You should now be able to reduce the speed to three or possibly even two and reduce the heater setting to 8 or 9.
Although the unit will have been hard wired it will be connected via a fused spur and by popping out the fuse the fan will be disconnected although there is no real need to switch the unit off during summer as it still supplies fresh filtered air which can  be welcome on hot days

    Internal Doors

Do you have to keep internal doors open for the drimaster to work?

    Question by Sian Price, 13-02-2018

    Hello Sian

The quick answer is no unless you have a particular room that is unused for long periods in which case just leaving slightly ajar will be ok.
The Drimaster will work simply because domestic doors are not airtight and natural activity throughout the day means that traffic between rooms will always cause air to move between them too. The system is designed to push air into a central area so even installed at the top of the stairs the lower floor rooms will benefit.

    Heat or no heat

Hi I have a tenanted 2 storey 2 bedroom terraced house and would like to buy one of your units. Looking at your info it does not seem too necessary to buy the heated unit. In my case it would be fitted at the top of the stairwell ceiling. If I bought the non heated one, could I buy and fit the heater part to it later if there were problems? thanks Jon

    Question by Jon Newton, 25-02-2018

    Hello Jon

From your description the location of the input diffuser sounds ideal and we are of the opinion that you would not require the heater version as when heating is on, warm air will naturally rise to ceiling height and the incoming air blends with this and redistributes it.

Controlling Heat feature and Defuser Function

If I understand the I&M PDF correctly, the only way you can switch off the Heater function is by installing a 4 way switch (and not on the defuser controls)? Also my 3 bed bungalow's inner hallway is only 870mm wide, so I'm assuming I can really only install the model at Speed 2 given the siting requirement in Paragraph 4.1?

    Question by Stephen Northrop, 14-03-2018

    Hello Stephen

The 4 way switch is the easy way.
If you wanted to override the heater without it you could temporarily adjust the speed setting to 1 and this disables the heater function

    bathroom fan

We have a extract fan in bathroom with open vent in ceiling will this effect the drimaster from working properly or do we need a sealed vent.

    Question by Tony, 24-06-2018

    Hello Tony

Provided the extractor is vented to outside, the connections are secure and there are no splits in the ducting this will have no impact on the efficiency of the drimaster

    Power

Hello Could you tell me if this product would be powerful enough to perform satisfactorily in a 5 bedroom house without being too noisy? Thanks

    Question by Sav, 05-08-2018

    Hello Sav

This unit does have a setting for a 5 bedroom house though of course this is the high speed, however, it doesn't necessarily mean that you would need this setting you may find the three bedroom setting is adequate, the speed settings are something you can play around with to get the correct input for your home.

    Drimaster heater

I have a drimaster eco heat fitted. The heater is turned to minimum but running costs have been very high.Is it worth getting a nuaire 4 way switch to turn off heater or how do I disconnect the heater only.

    Question by PETER WOLFE, 05-09-2018

    Hello Peter

Thank you for your question. The DRIMASTER-ECO-HEAT-HC fan unit includes an internal sensorto regulate the fan speed according to the temperature of the loft. The internal sensor is to increase airflow to the dwelling when theloft is warmer than the house. The units ‘Fixed Temperature HeatRecovery’ strategy shall be achieved via a sensor located in the unitand shall improve energy performance accordingly. This unit has allthe controls for the fan in the ceiling vent allowing the user to control, programme and monitor the unit from inside the property. A heatersection incorporating a 400w heating element shall be fitted to thefan unit. It shall be electronically controlled so as to minimise energyuse. A temperature sensor shall be fitted to the outlet of the heaterand will control the output of the heater in an attempt to maintainthe set point. The set point will be adjustable between 6?C and 20?C.It also has the ability to be controlled using a RF function and can beboosted from a remote wall mounted switch,

Which Fixing method gives the best sound deadening ?

Which fixing method gives the least amount of noise while in use? The standard fixing or the joist mounted fixing? Do you have something to compare the running sounds at minimum and maximum settings? Such as sounds like distant traffic? of a jet taking off (which I doubt :-) )

    Question by Hil, 18-10-2018

    Hi Hil

The best fixing system for least vibration is the one supplied with the unit to suspend it from a roof beam.

A Decibel comparison is the following:-

40dB - Library, bird calls (44 dB); lowest limit of urban ambient sound

One-eighth as loud as 70 dB.

    30dB - Quiet rural area.

One-sixteenth as loud as 70 dB. Very Quiet.

    20 dB Whisper, rustling leaves

    10 dB Breathing

    Barely audible

    Humidity vs condensation

My house/area has a high water table with ~1cm of standing water under the floorboards in certain parts of the house at various times of year. depending upon the rainfall and water table. I have high humidity year round due to his, but no condensation issues. Is this unit suitable for my situation? Thank you

    Question by Jason, 20-10-2018

    Hello Jason

The quick answer is yes, your property will be subject to higher levels of humidity due to the location and evaporation of ground source water beneath the dwelling, the installation of a positive pressure system will reverse this. We would also suggest investigating whether the sub floor ventilation needs to be increased.

    Heater

How you know if the heater element is working? The air coming out feels as cold as outside. We've turned the up temperate up to max. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Question by Linda, 27-10-2018

    Hi Linda

If you hold a hand up to the diffuser you will never feel warm air coming out because your hand will always be warmer and the incoming air is under pressure. The easiest way to describe this effect is the example of blowing into your hands when they are cold, you are using the warmth of your breath, however, if you burn a finger you again, blow on the affected part but purse the lips to increase pressure, which has a cooling effect, the temperature of your breath hasn't altered just the speed at which it is applied.
The 'heater' is there to take the chill off when the temperature in the loft falls below the set point and this has a range between 10 - 20 degrees. If, as you write, you have turned the temperature to max (ie 20) this means, at this time of year, the heater will be on almost constantly and this will be less cost effective than increasing your central heating thermostat during cold periods.

    Cottage Query

Hi there. I am considering purchasing the Drimaster Eco Heat Positive Input Ventilation Unit With Integral 400W Heater. I live in a single storey stone cottage which suffers from quite bad condensation. The Humidity levels are constantly around 70-80%. From the reviews of this product and your answers to any questions it would seem that this product may help. My cottage is quite long (around 25metres long) with a corridor running down half of it (the bedrooms are off the corridor) then into a large living and kitchen area (10m in length) which has a higher ceiling than the rest of the house. Please let me know if this is the unit that you would be recommending in this instance.

    Question by Adam, 27-11-2018

    Hi Adam

The answer to your question regarding our recommendation will depend really on how high your ceilings are and whether the loft is well ventilated.
We would also prefer to know, what ventilation (extraction) is there currently in the bathroom and kitchen and poss utility room, if there is one?
Helpful info would be type of heating system, log burner? Hot water radiators? Do you have a hot water tank/airing cupboard?

    Ceiling diffuser installation.

I have a double thickness ceiling to go through as it is old lath & plaster which was tacked over with plasterboard then plastered over. Will this cause a problem for me?

    Question by Len White, 02-12-2018

    Hello Len

This will largely depend on how thick the ceiling actually is, the heater connects to the rear spigot on the diffuser which is approx 60mm and the ducting connects to the heater so both should clear the ceiling depth.

    Cut down doors?

We have put 'Envirovent' systems into a few properties and they recommend that the bottom of all doors are cut so that there is a 10mm gap at the bottom so that air can flow if doors are closed. Is this the same for the NUAIRE systems which I have only just discovered on the I-sells site

    Question by Barry Kneller, 26-12-2018

    Hi Barry,

For all Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) systems to work, air needs to be able to travel as free as possible around the property. This is normally achieved under doors and so the recommendation to allow adequate air movement with a gap of approximately 10mm under the doors is good advise.

Generally we also advise that any rooms where air would have to travel through two doors would need additional ventilation, especially moisture producing (wet) areas. The main final check, is to ensure that there is adequate free ventilation within the loft space itself.

Setting the Temperature Speed Control Option

In the instructions it says the following under Setting the Temperature Speed Control Option: 1 (Default) At loft temperatures below 19°C the unit will operate on “Normal Operation Mode”. At loft temperatures above 18°C but less than 24°C, the unit will switch automatically to “Intelligent Heat Recovery Mode”. At loft temperatures above 23°C the unit will switch itself automatically to “Standby Mode”. 2 At loft temperatures below 19°C the unit will operate on “Normal Operation Mode”. At loft temperatures above 18°C but less than 31°C, the unit will switch automatically to “Intelligent Heat Recovery Mode”. At loft temperatures above 30°C the unit will switch itself automatically to “Standby Mode”. 3 This option removes the temperature sensing function out of the unit. The unit will operate continuously in “Normal Operation Mode” depending on the volume control setting selected. 4 At loft temperatures below 16°C the unit will operate on “Normal Operation Mode”. At loft temperatures above 15°C but less than 28°C, the unit will switch automatically to “Heat Recovery Mode”. At loft temperatures above 27°C the unit will switch itself automatically to “Standby Mode”. 5 Not applicable for the HEAT model. What are the following modes, and how does the unit operate in those modes? “Normal Operation Mode” “Intelligent Heat Recovery Mode” “Heat Recovery Mode” (I assume this just has the word Intelligent missing? or is it a different mode?) “Standby Mode” Many Thanks, Dennis

    Question by Dennis, 05-01-2019

    Hi Dennis

"Normal Operation Mode" is the trickle speed as set on installation.
"Heat Recovery Mode" is automatic boost when temperatures rise above a set level, ie the loft temperature is warmer than the house, and "Standby Mode" is another term for "off".

Speed settings based upon clearance to walls.

Dear Sir/Madam, I purchased 2 units from for 2 different homes. However, I need help with the issue in the instructions that I have pasted below: "5.0 DIFFUSER INSTALLATION 5.1 Siting the Diffuser Position The diffuser has a unique air throw pattern and it is essential that it is located correctly in the central hallway in single storey properties or in the ceiling of the top floor landing on 2 or more storey dwellings. The diffuser discharges air evenly in all directions along the underside of the ceiling. Speed Setting Minimum distance of diffuser from wall 1 100mm 2 155mm 3 400mm 4 625mm 5 850mm 6 1000mm" I did not see these rules before my electrician installed the unit. However, he installed it with 200mm clearance to the walls in 2 directions, and over 1000mm clearance to the walls in 2 other directions. He then used the enclosed "air dams" to block off the 2 sides that had only 200mm clearance. My questions are: 1) Can I run my fan at speed 6 based upon the fact that the 2 sides from which the air flows have more than 1000mm clearance to the walls? 2) If not, what is the maximum speed setting that I can use on such a diffuser? 3) Is it advisable to leave the 2 sides with 200mm clearance blocked up or should all 4 sides be unblocked?

    Question by Elie Gabay, 27-01-2019

    Hi Elie

The fans running speeds are generally set according to the size of the property ie how many bedrooms. Setting 6 would be recommended for a 5 - 6 bedroom house, usually speed 3 is adequate. The recommendations regarding the diffuser proximity to the walls is to avoid the input air from being directed in a downward direction. I suppose the real question is, has the unit on its current speed cleared up the condensation problem which, we presume, it was originally purchased for?

    2 Fitting Questions

2 fitting questions. Our upstairs has dropped ceilings below a loft (approx. 18" void space below lathe & plaster ceilings). This makes access to the loft-side of the dropped ceiling very difficult. Can the diffuser unit be fitted from below (i.e. attach heater and ducting and wires working in the hallway) and passed through the ceiling hole assembled? We can then hook and pull through the duct and wiring to attach to the filter and motor. Secondly, can the ducting be extended more than the 2m supplied if necessary?

    Question by Jeremy, 06-08-2019

    Hi Jeremy
If I have understood your question correctly I cannot see any obstacle to the installation you are describing.
Please see the link below which is a video of the installation, the hole cut into the ceiling is larger than the heater and ducting connection so fitting from below and pushing through should not be a problem.
There is no ducting extension kit or longer ducting provided for this product so we would suggest this is the optimum for airflow efficiency and keeping to 2m wherever possible.

    Question by steve, 20-05-2020

Hi Steve. Having the unit on speed 4 wouldn't cause that to be honest. It may be worth checking your filters, to see if they are clogged. They can be easily cleaned, and can last up to 5 years, but they do need cleaning. If there is any residual duct etc in the fan, give that brush out, with a soft brush. The more you maintain it, the better it will perform, and it will last longer too.

Drimaster Eco Heat Positive Input Ventilation Unit

We live in quite an exposed location. Does the unit generate sufficient pressure to push damp air out in a location like ours when the wind is often blowing against the house or would a more powerful unit be required?

    Question by Simon Cousins, 20-08-2020

Hi, the fan itself does have various speed settings dependent on size of the property. I'd recommend having it on it's highest setting for a day or 2 to purge the property, then lower the speed setting down. The wind will make no difference, as it is forcing moisture our from natural leakage points in the property such as key holes, extractor fan duct runs, air bricks and grilles.

Would having a room above the vent effect the efficiency of the unit? The rooms I want to improve are on the ground floor. regards Andy

    Question by Andy, 23-08-2020

If the loft space has been converted to a Dormer, then the Drimaster won't be suitable, as it relies on a well ventilated loft space to ventilate the property. You could look at the Flatmaster 2000. There are 2 options Left or Right handed, depending on where it is sited. You can install the unit in the hall way and duct out to the exterior of the property, That unit will do the same job.

I have major problems with condensation which after reading the reviews, I think this unit will eliminate. I have supplied my tenants with a dehumidifier which they are obviously not using! I would like assurance that my tenants will not be able to turn this unit off or down. Thanks for any help

    Question by Sharon Widdison, 26-11-2020

    Hello Sharon,

    Thankyou for your enquiry.

The Drimaster has controls on the diffuser which is placed on the ceiling. Your tenants if made aware can turn the speed down from there but cannot turn the unit off unless they disconnect it from within the loft space itself.
If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me on 0208 463 9517.

    Plug top

Can I install buy fitting a plug top with 3 Amp fuse on the flex and plugging into an existing socket? Would this impact warranty?

    Question by Alan Bingham, 30-11-2020

Hi, it would impact the warranty, as the unit needs to be installed via the fused spur that comes with the unit. They can be wired y to the lighting circuit.

    Drimaster Eco Heat increased noise

Hi! Have fitted Drimaster Eco Heat about 3 weeks ago. Very positive effect on the condensation, so happy with that. But I'm concerned as the noise level from the unit has increased noticeably since the the install. It was hard to hear at first (I'm using setting 3-4) but now you can clearly hear vent humming in a landing. Any advice on reducing the noise level (unit is suspended in the loft) or diagnosing possible malfunction?

I'm currently fitting this at the moment and we have loft insulation with boards on top. Is it ok to put the insulation/boards back close to the unit or should we leave some clearance? (Not sure if the heating casing gets hot.)

    Cellar

Can I put this unit in cellar instead? Or do I have to have two units building is two story. I ordered a £9 unit to see if my place is dry I cannot remember what it is called but it was not in my basket when I paid. Please how do I get one so it can come with my Drimaster as I do not want to pay for delivery. When I put drimaster in basket you asked me if I wanted the gadget to tell dryness number and I pressed yes. Thank you Deanna

    Question by Deanna, 14-09-2021

    Good morning. Deanna.

The unit cannot go in the cellar, it must be installed in a well ventilated loft space. For it to work properly, the loft must not be converted into a living space. You will need separate ventilation for your cellar, as the Drimaster is only designed to ventilate 2 stories. If you want further advice on options for the cellar, give me a call on 020 8463 9514.
With regards to the Hygrometer, it is still in your basket. If you give me a call, I'll take payment for it, and do it carriage free.
    Kindest regards,
    Marc.

    Replacement of old unit

Hi, I have an old Dr, however, wimaster unit which is now making a loud click noise so I think something has come loose inside. So I am looking at replacing the unit. I have a couple of questions and hope you are able to answer these for me. 1) My current unit is on the floor in the loft on some batons to raise it up, can this unit be installed the same way or does it need to be hung from the rafters? 2) The current unit has heat but this is on constant and not something I have ever adjusted, with the new unit can I set it and not have to change it? Thank you

    Question by Lee, 21-10-2021

Good morning Lee and thanks for your questions.

With the new models, the heater is not on all the time. There are settings for when that activates. You will find it on the installation instructions in our download section for the product.
If you want to mount the unit to the batons, you will need to buy the mounting kit - NUA771393, however are are currently out of stock. If you want to call me on 020 8463 9514 and can check availability of them at the factory and if needed, get both sent direct at no extra cost to yourself.

    Location Query

I have ordered the basic Nuaire Dri master HC unit for our 3 bed bungalow to hopeful eradicate condensation. My query is would it be ok to position the unit above the hall ceiling approx 1.5metres in from the main front door as this is where we have a radiator and so the warm air from this can counter any draft from the unit and the cooler loft air. We have an L shape hall and the location would be adjacent a bedroom door and in line with mother but round the corner of the L from the main rear longe and kitchen. Thank you

    Question by Paul Simmonds, 16-11-2021

Good morning Paul. In an ideal world you would need to site the unit centrally, but an L Shaped Hallway makes that difficult. Are you able to email me a sketch of the layout with rough dimensions to marc@i-sells.co.uk, and I will come back to you?

    Heater or not

I have read previous questions and answers and see that you do not recommend the heated version in a house where the unit will be installed at the top of the stairwell as warm air will rise to the unit. My house has high ceilings and a loft, but I'm not sure that it will be occupied all year round, so may sometimes be unheated. In that situation should I buy the heated version or not? Many thanks

    Question by alison macdonald, 13-04-2022

Good morning Alison and thanks for your question.

If I'm honest, it may not make a great deal of difference to the temperature as the heater is only 400w. It is designed primarily to take the edge off the cold incoming air in the winter months. Unheated and empty properties are prone to rises of humidity, so either Drimaster model should help to keep humidity levels from rising too high.

    broken unit

Hello. I finally fit my drymaster eco today. The moment unit start running start making squeaky noises. Also it sounds like motor rubbing inside against something. Is it any chance to replace main unit? Or repair it somehow? Thank You

    Question by Jaroslaw, 07-05-2022

Good morning. Can I ask you to obtain the serial number off of the unit, and give the sales team a call on 020 8463 9696 to discuss options.

At this moment in time, Nuaire don't have any replacements units in stock, and they have had no phones and IT systems for 2 weeks, so they are little behind, so please bear with us, as it may take a little longer than usual to lodge the warranty enquiry with them.

    Stop condensation

Will the unit definitely cure condensation forming on backs of drawer units etc. Rooms are already well ventilated. No drying of clothes indoors and no tumble dryer indoors. My contractor wants nearly £1000 to fit your unit and don’t want to spend that sort of money if it doesn’t definitely solve the problem.

    Question by Trevor Troop, 20-09-2022

Good morning Trevor. I am hesitant to say "definitely" as there are factors that can hinder the Drimaster, such as, the loft not being ventilated, doors being closed with very little gap underneath. Providing the loft is well ventilated and is still drawing in plenty of fresh air, then the fan will gently bring fresh air into the property. For it to be effective, you will need either a 20mm gap at the bottom of interior doors, or each door to be slightly ajar, and don't butt up furniture such as wardrobes and chest of draws against the wall. try to leave a gap of about 3 inches to allow air to flow.

You should notice a physical improvement within 24-48 hours.

    Marc

    Installing below loft boards

If installed with loft/floor boards, judging by the photos the heating element would clash with the loft boards. Is it possible to extend the tubing between the diffuser and heating element to avoid cutting out more of the loft board than needed? I am also thinking about servicing needs in the future and just in case the element requires replacing it would be better to avoid lifting floor boards.

    Humidity

How can this reduce humidity inside the home during wet days/months when the humidity outside is much higher than inside?

    Question by Steve, 25-10-2022

    Good afternoon Steve.

The unit draws fresh air contained in the loft space and supplied it to the property. IT then pressurises the property and forces excess humidity out through natural leakage points such as airbricks, vent or key holes.
If the loft is too hot in the summer, then the unit will go onto standby mode.
    I hope that helps.
    Kind regards,
    Marc.

    Smoke detector location

Is it acceptable to position the landing smoke detector on the bottom of the ceiling diffuser? I have heard this is an option on other units, but the installation instructions do not mention it?

    Question by ToBi Watson, 11-11-2022

    Hello Tobi

Thank you for your question. It is important to ensure that the diffuser is NOT placed within 1 metre of a smoke alarm. if thediffuser cannot be repositioned, two sides of the diffuser must be closed off using the air damssupplied to encourage the air through the remaining open sides that faces at least 1.5 metres ofunobstructed area away from the smoke alarm sensor.

    Heater

Hi I have one of the Drimaster eco heat models and the 4 way switch installed . Is the heater switched ON when the orange led is illuminated or does the orange led just mean that the heater circuit is enabled ready to kick ON & OFF according to where the blue thermostat control is positioned . I ask the question as I am conscious that the orange led being illuminated will be constantly running the heater element . Regards

    Question by Jonathan Dyer, 26-11-2022

Good morning. The LED denotes that the heater is in Auto Mode, which basically means it will activate when the temperature drops below the temperature you have set, so therefore if the heater isn't on, then it won't be using any more power.

    Kind regards,

    Loft installation above a bedroom

Hi, our top floor bedroom covers the whole floor (no landing area). would this unit still be effective for the whole house?

    Question by Martin Davies, 19-12-2022

Good morning Martin. The Drimaster will only be suitable if the loft space has not been converted and is still well ventilated. You may need to speak to someone at Nuaire Technical to find the best position to install if this is the case. If the top floor is the loft, then you would requite a Flatmaster, possibly 2, as they are only suitable for properties over 100m2.

    Question by Rob, 06-01-2023

    Hi Rob.

The unit can either be suspended from the rafters utilising the cord that is supplied (this is the most common method) or can mounted to the beams using an AV mounting kit. You will need a couple of battens, which we don't supply. You will find this information on page 2 of the installation guide, which may help.

    Heat recovery

Hi. Any idea what the heat recovery function it that the manual indicates please? Can you use the HC model without the 4 boost switch and add it later? An inline extractor fan (about 1.5m away) for the bathroom is in the room behind the hallway but that only comes on when the lights get switched on. Is this likely to stop the PIV flooding air to the rest of the house?

    Question by spencer cottle, 19-01-2023

    Hello Spencer

The DRI-ECO-HEAT-HC fan unit includes an internal sensor toregulate the fan speed according to the temperature of the loft. The internal sensor will increase airflow to the dwelling when thetemperature in the loft is anywhere between 19-24 degrees celsius. Ifthe DRI-ECO-RH is purchased then the temperature sensor integralto this ancillary will be used to communicate with the PIV unit andshould the temperature in the loft become warmer than the dwelling, the fan will boost. The unit's 'Fixed Temperature Heat Recovery'strategies shall be achieved via these sensors and shall improveenergy performance accordingly. Yes you can add the 4 way switch at a later time, in regards to the in line fan this will not effect the unit.

    small roof space

We would like to use your product in a rental property. The roof has a very low pitch which it is not possible to stand up in. Would this cause any problems with the operation of the unit.

    Question by alan bennett, 31-01-2023

Good morning Alan. It depends on a few things really. Is the loft still ventilated? It should be. How low is the pitch and rough size property are we talking about?

Generally speaking, if there is enough space to mount the unit in the loft, and plenty of fresh air getting in, then it is usually ok. A couple of photos of the loft may also help. You can email me directly on marc@i-sells.co.uk

    DB noise

what is the db noise of the fan in the Drimaster Eco Heat Positive Input Ventilation Unit With Integral 400W Heater By Nuaire

    Question by Jason, 25-03-2023

Good afternoon Jason, and apologies for not responding sooner.

I have been searching everywhere for the noise ratings, but I probably should have gone straight to the manufacturer from the start. Anyway, assuming the fan speed is set at speed 4, the decibel level at 3m is 9dB and when it is on its boost speed, that rises to 19dB, which is actually pretty quiet.

    Marc.

    Nuadri-Eco-Heat-HC

Energy now being very expensive-how long should the Drimaster be switched on for? How much does it cost to run (say daily). Does it need to be on 24 hours to work efficiently? Thanks.

    Question by Mark Reid, 08-04-2023

Good morning Mark. The Drimaster will need to be running 24/7 365 days of the year. It works by pressurising the property through positive pressure. If you switch it off, it will a) stop performing and b) it could leave moisture inside the unit that could decay the electrics, which can lead to invalidating the warranty.

The unit will consume about 11 watts per hour when in normally operating, but will use an extra 400watts when the heater is activated. That will only activate when the temperature is low in the loft. You can set the threshold to between 5 and 15 degrees,
    Kind regards,
    Marc

    Unsure how the heater works

Hi there, I bought this a couple of weeks back and installed at the weekend. It's already making a difference - humidity has dropped within the house and the air just 'feels' better! Really pleased so far. Question though regarding the heater. Despite the temperatures being quite low the last few days, the air coming from the diffuser is cold. I've tried altering the small blue dial on the diffuser panel, but doesn't seem to make any difference. There was a kind of heater element smell briefly - like the element was warming - but the air still feels cold, the element doesn't glow as I would expect so not sure if it's working correctly. Is there some way/setting where I can 'force' the heater to kick in? Thanks for your help. Lee

    Question by Lee, 26-04-2023

    Hello Lee

Thank you for your question. In regards to the unit providing heat. The heater element will only be blowing in tempered air not full blown heat as it only has a 400watt heater element within the unit. Please come back to me if you have any further questions
