Installation: First, check the free air space of the cowl exceeds the air space required by the covered opening, air brick, grille or vent. Fix the cowl to the brickwork through the pre-formed holes in the flange.

A Hello EdwardThis product is a cowl for an existing airbrick or open vent to protect from the elements so there is no gravity flap inside. The gravity flap versions are for core drilled holes as they have a projecting spigot at the rear to fit the size of ducting installed.An example of this can be seen by entering QS6170 in the search bar (150mm version).
Hole is 5 x 6.5 but have not been able to remove casing which sticks out from wall do you have anything that will cover it ?

A Hello GeorgeThere is no fly screen on this product as it is just a weather cover for an existing airbrick sized vent, it is for protection from ingress of wind and rain.

I am ssuming they are of a plastic originanswer nowA Hello GrahamIm not sure what the manufacturer would say but I know from experience (I once had to colour 240 cowls of the same material) that the best product to use is Plasticoat spray paint you can find this in most DIY outlets. Depending on the finish required and to save money use the primer and apply several coats before the finish coat this means you can avoid using an undercoat.

This has the damper inside so will open to let the air out and will close to stop draughts coming back through. Our product code for this item is QS6167. 2nd option if you are going up and through the roof then our roof cowl the product code for this item is QS1449.
