this fan stopped turning although the odd time I go into this shower room (light is what activates) turned on I can hear motor trying to work but nothing just the very odd time. I would like to know as a lady pensioner and call out is so costly could this be simple job
Hi I have a 3 bedroom, 2 storey, detached house (circa 1950) with double-glazed windows, insulated loft and insulated cavity walls. I have had quite bad condensation (mainly on windows) and some mould problems (mainly behind furniture, in some cupboards, etc) which I think may be related to high humidity / lack of ventilation (even though I have humidistat fans in the bathroom and kitchen and open windows, etc). These are particularly bad in the colder months. Please confirm if this is likely to be the cause and if installing a PIV unit (would a Nauire unit be the most appropriate?) should solve these problems. The height of the ceiling above the stairwell (on the landing) is 2.4m. My main questions are which unit would be most suitable please? Would I need the 'heater' version (I've read some reviews saying the standard units can cause a cold draught in the winter - is this correct please?) Also, looking at the various 'options', would you recommend the associated 'boost switch' and/or the humidity sensor unit. Regarding the location of the unit, please note that part of the landing ceiling has a structural joist (covered) projecting down by 160mm (this is to one side of the centre), a 'hanging' ceiling light and a smoke detector. I can send a photograph and/or dimensions if necessary. Many thanks for your help. A quick reply would be appreciated.
The with/without heater issue should be determined by where thediffuser is to be located. The unit is designed to introduce air at high level and in houses, when heating is used, the warmest air naturally rises to ceiling height thestairwell ceiling generally being the highest point in a house therefore playshost to some of the warmest air in the dwelling, the benefit of which, is notfelt. If the input can be located at this level the incoming air is immediatelytempered and redistributed. This type of installation would NOT require theheater version.
In a single floor property with lower ceilings 2.4m the air atceiling height is less warm and the heat transfer to incoming air is reducedand in this case consideration for including the heater may be given. However,if cooler air was being introduced over any length of time it would be muchmore cost effective to compensate by temporarily increasing the heating by acouple of degrees than running the heater option.View All Questions

Hi, A few Qs please, I am looking for a fan for a bathroom window that won't look huge and ruin the window. 1) i believe it is 4 inch, but does this mean the hole in the window, or the size of the casement? if it's the hole, how big is the entire fan if it is in a window? 2) Do I need to buy anything else with it, or do I get everything I need in the packet to mount this in a bathroom window? 3) How does it turn on ? Is this activated manuallay by a pull chord, Does it have a humidistat or timer? Or is it activated by the light switch? Thanks Alison
