How do they work?Â
A robust galvanised steel shell ensures the fire sleeves have only one direction to expand into once heated. The intumescent material expands rapidly and blocks off the airflow into any adjacent rooms, starving the fire of oxygen and quickly stopping the spread of smoke and flames.
The fireproof sleeves are fire rated to BSEN 1366-3: 2009
How Do I Install One?
The fire sleeve is easily installed by placing around the ducting, sealing tightly shut and then pressing into the partition. The fire sleeve can either sit plush into the partition or jut out slightly. Intumescent sealant is recommended to secure the fire sleeve into place.
As a result of the simple installation methods, fire protection sleeves such as these have the option to be retrofit into both insulated and non-insulated masonry and plasterboard partitions.
