The blades will be made from plastic, and most inline fans will have a temperature rating of between 60-80 degree celcius. If the fan is taking high temperatures, then you may need to look at a bifurcation fan, or look at mounting another type of fan further down the duct run. Which ever fan you choose, you would need to know what the temperature is likely to be as the air moves through the fan. Also, duct run length is another thing to consider, as the ACM250 can only cope with 5m of straight duct. Any 90 degree bends equate to adding 1m to the duct run in terms of resistance.Kindest regards, Marc.
I wanted to enquire about the use of this in line extractor fan in the kitchen with a run of 3-5m depending on its final location. If placed above a hob, can it be suspended in suitable enclosure around 1.2/1.3m high?

This wont be suitable to go above the hob, as cooking tends to cause grease to rise, which is why a lot of people have cooker hoods with grease filters. If you want to use an inline fan, the maximum duct run can be 5m plus 1 bend. I would recommend installing it in the ceiling void if possible, and having an extract grill in a more central part of the kitchen. That should take away unwanted humidity..Kindest regards, Marc.

This fan will do a straight duct run of 8mtrs or 6mtrs with two bends incorporated within the run. It is recommended that insulated ducting is used as condensation could form due to the warm air meeting the cold air. You can use either flexible insulated duct or insulated rigid duct or if your loft is insulated this can be wrapped around the rigid pipe. If using flexible ducting please make sure that it is pulled very taught so that the air flow is consistent. The fan can be mounted to the joist and to avoid any vibration you could place a mat under the unit.Back draught shutters can be installed either with flexible or rigid ducting. With a reducer piece?answer nowA Hi JonThe ACM is suitable for installations involving 6m of ducting so the lengths you have indicated are ok.We are not sure about the non return valves as if the fan is running all of them will be open, not running all closed?The flow rate you mention is the highest speed capable for this machine and therefore, requires the least resistance, it is not possible to force air that requires 125m ducting through a 110mm space in the same way it is not possible to force 2 litres of water into a 1 litre bottle.

Regards and thanksanswer nowA Hello PeteThe ducting you intend to install will not compromise the efficiency of the unit and VA have a universal Thermoswitch that they say is compatible with all VA fans, you can view this by searching QS3117.Remember you can only extract overheated air from the loft if the loft is well ventilated so you may need to roll back loft insulation from overhanging eaves or soffit vents.

If you mean semi rigid (semi flexible) ducting this can be found by entering QS467 in the search bar and depending on how you are running the duct, the support rings QS8860 or split rings QS2390 may be suitable.

I am looking install the fan using 110x54 ducting for a straight run of 3.5M. There are 2 bathrooms of1.9 x1.9M & 1.6x1.7M both 2.3 M high. Would this fan have enough power to clear both rooms if both showers were running? 99% of the time it would only be 1 being used at a time.

We need an extended time on the fan (20 min) would I need to purchase a separate timer? Can you supply one? And the shutter is that also separate and can the fan prevent influx of cold air from outside?

This unit does not have a timer this is the standard model. If you require a timer version then the ACM125t model is what you require. As to running both from one controller there is nothing in the instructions so this is really a question for your electrician. Please be aware that if a non approved installation is carried out which damages the units this is likely to void guarantees.

If the fan is installed in duct connected to the dryer with an exhaust rate of X yet the dryer only has an exhaust rate of Y where does the replacement air come from? And will this put stress on the motor and impeller?

Many thanks.answer nowA Hello WesI dont know of a fan that has thermostat control options but that is not to say one doesnt exist.I would probably recommend the Manrose MF100S, as it is compaible with a switch, humidistat and PIR sensor, although this doesnt have a thermostat option it can be set to run on a constant trickle speed which may be enough to stabilise the comms cupboard temperature.It may also be worth contacting an electrician to see if a thermostat is compatible, after all it is only another form of switch?Please be aware however, that if any make of fan is connected to a non approved control which causes breakdown or failure the guarantee is likely to be and void.

The total ducting length is about 5m. Question is, is the fan location close enough to source to draw moisture, noting there will be an existing draw from chimney. Your thoughts on this would be helpful.

Great fan, with plenty of external static pressure for longer duct runs. quite a lot of duct noise though when running at high speed. Ive got it connected to approx 1.5m of rigid duct and a ceiling grille and it is quite noisy. Ive not tried it on low speed though, so it may be more acceptable.
