How do I operate the unit?
During installation your unit will have been set to run continuously at a level that will adequately ventilate your home.
As house sizes and occupancy levels vary, your DRI-ECO-HC has 6 speed controls which can be adjusted to suit your home.
How much does this unit cost to run?
To run the unit, electrical consumption would (typically) be about 1p per day. However, it should be remembered that the unit is making use of heat at ceiling level which would otherwise be lost.
The unit will switch itself into standby mode when temperatures reach such that condensation would not occur within your home eg. during the summertime.
What maintenance is required?
To maintain the optimum performance of your DRI-ECO-HC the filter must be kept clean and clear.
The cleaning or replacement of the filters is required every 5 years.
Can I install this myself?

Thank you for your enquiry.
Is the smell a musty smell? If so this is normally caused due to no ventilation in the loft space.
You will be able to see if you have ventilation in the loft space by looking outside and seeing if you have tile vents, soffit vents or airbricks if none of these are visible then there is no ventilation present.
The Driamster unit is designed to filter into the property the fresh air and not the loft space air.

The filters would need to be changed every 2 years for the NOX models. You would only really need the NOX version if you live in an area that gets a lot of traffic or Nitrogen Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide in the area. If you dont live in an area like that, then all the Drimaster models will ventilate properties up to 200m2.Kind regards, Marc

This model does not have the heater.DRI-ECO-HEAT-HCS does, but you cant turn the heater off from the controller on the diffuser, just turn down the threshold in which it activates.DRI-ECO-HEAT-HC is the same as the HCS model above, but has RF capabilities, which means it you buy the 4-way switch DRI-ECO-4S and pair it up, you can deactivate the heat settings at a touch of a button, and boost the fan speed. If you are looking to buy both items, it would be cheaper to buy the bundle DRI-ECO-HEAT-HC-BUN-ECO-4SKind regards, Marc

I have a 2 bungalow with pretty bad condensation within the winter months is this product suitable to help avoid condensation? Also I see you have a heated version and if I find this version give off to much of a chill is it possible to buy the heater separately and fit to this version?

Unfortunately you cannot retrofit the heater to the non-heated version. Being a bungalow, we would recommend the heated version, but please be aware, the heater is only 400w, so it will only take the edge off the temperature of the incoming air when it is cold.Kind regards, Marc.
Been studying these as we have a severe condensation problem thru winter no matter how we live eg opening windows, never dry washing on rad etc etc but nothing ever changes - will these reach areas like behind beds cupboards etc? Are they guaranteed to work@ - we have trickle vents in every single window and a bathroom fan.

By adding extra pieces of ducting you will be affecting the airflow. The unit and the ducting that comes with it, has been specially designed to give equal air flow throughout the day. Also, if part of the loft has been converted, you may need to add a couple of extra vent points for the Drimaster to be effective. The other option would be the Flatmaster unit. It is suitable for properties up to 100m2.

The latest costs I have are about a year old, but it wont be far out. The cost for the heated version is aprox 10p per day. The Drimaster will certainly make a difference, and if you have an extractor fan in the bathroom, and preferably the kitchen too, then you should be free of condensation within 48hours. This is providing the loft space is well ventilated. We do always recommend the heated version for single storey properties, as there is less space for any warm air to rise.

The water will condense onto the windows and walls which will cause condensation and mould. If the doors have gaps underneath then the air from the unit you are looking at will filter into the room if the doors do not have gaps then the doors would have to be left open a bit for the air to filter in. Also for this unit to work your loft space would have to be well ventilated by either Tile Vents, Soffit Vents or Air Bricks. You are correct in stating the HC version with the controls in the diffuser plate would not be the best option so the basic loft control would be better. There is no difference regarding efficiency between any of the Drimasters it is just the controls that determine the title, for the basic version I would also recommend the two way switch as it gives you a bit more control without accessing the loft.

Taking advantage of convected air from a radiator is also a good idea.

1 last question, as unit draws air from loft gaps etc , the soffit boards have been overclad with pvc and underneath is cement board which may or may not contain asbestos.if by chance the wind was to blow a fibre into the air would the filters stop it blowing into house.hope u can help

Read moreanswer nowA Hi Robert, If your diffuser is too near a flank wall or loft hatch you can use the air dams to divert the input away from that direction.If your suspected asbestos soffits are clad, there will be no soffit ventilation therefore the fresh air supplying the loft should be entering through other means such as tile vents, ridge tile vents or airbricks in gable ends.

The stairwell ceiling will still be the warmest part of the house when the heating is on (warm air rises through convection) so the location you describe is still the best. If too close to a flank wall, or the smoke alarm, you may need to install the air dams (supplied).
I have had 2 Drimasters over the last 25 yrs but my current model has died. Im looking at getting the Eco Hall Control Diffuser but note it has a circular diffuser (as opposed to the square one on my current model). What is the size of the circular diffuser as I dont want to get my ceiling touched up if I can help it.answer nowA Hello TheresaThe diffuser is 320mm in diameter which means, if you have had the ceiling painted since the square diffuser was installed, there will be small parts of the ceiling beneath exposed. A temporary solution would be to install the new unit and connect the duct to the old diffuser until it is time to repaint the ceiling. However, because the controls are in the diffuser for the Hall control model you would need to buy the Loft control version for this to be feasible.

The top of the stairwell is a door which separates the flat from the stairs. Just wondering which unit would be best and also would I have to make the stairwell part of the flat by removing space at top of the door so as to permeate this space using this unit style

Your description indicates a conversion property and therefore this would not be the recommended solution. We would recommend the Flatmaster possibly located in the hallway of the flat, (this could still draw air from a well ventilated loft void) and by feeding air directly into the dwelling without extra building work. Please note these systems are designed to work with adequate extraction in the bathrooms and kitchens.

It does, however, have a thermal cut out if the loft gets too hot in summer months, this is to avoid overheating the property and it should revert to normal running speed when the loft cools.If the system is not totally controlling the condensation problems the setting may be too low (there are 5 speeds) and the system may need to be re-programmed, instructions are on our website, unfortunately I cannot attach them in this format. Thanksanswer nowA Hello DaveThe reason the stairwell is recommended as the optimum location for the diffuser is that during periods when the heating is on warm air naturally rises to the highest point in the house and is of no benefit to the occupants. The incoming air blends with the warm air and redistributes it. The question regarding suitability of locating in the half landing is, will there be enough warm air at this point to temper incoming air when cold outside?(Please dont consider the heater as a supplement to the home heating system it only warms by a couple of degrees).A more suitable option my be to use the Flatmaster if that can be installed to input at a higher level? Particularly if it can be located in a closet or hot water tank cupboard?
Our house is 3 storeys with the top floor (attic) converted to a bedroom (ie there is no loft space above the attic). Would it be possible to install the unit in the eaves to one side of the attic bedroom? This would mean the diffuser would not be in the centre of the landing ceiling but slightly to one side.

This would mean the diffuser would not be in the centre of the landing ceiling but slightly to one side.answer nowA Hello James Your question prompts several others including, if there is no loft space how will the duct feed the air to the ceiling diffuser (input valve) and will this still be in the ceiling? If it is close to a flank wall, how close? How high is the ceiling (above ones head) where the diffuser would be located?

Hi, this is an excellent product and well worth the money the fitting is easy and took less than an hour. Okay the house was suffering from mould and condensation and although we had already had surveys for damp and condensation (they wanted over 1000 GBP to fix the problem) we opted to buy and install NUADRI-ECO-HC and used a qualified electrician to fit it. Since we’ve had it fitted the mould has gone and the condensation is no more .
